RCH - Steam Pole4.90ExcellentThe May special from RCH, a beer that I have passed over many times during May in my quest for mild, so it had to be done. A surprisingly good golden bitter with good toffee maltiness and hoppy bitterness in harmony. Full bodied and smooth, easy drinking for its strength. My score 16/20.

27 Mar 2010 (Ian)
I met up with an old friend from University and she was thirsty so we came here, got a drink and sat on the outside decking catching up.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Oakham - JHB3.80ExcellentLove this beer, and this was in very good nick, citrus hops were excellent. Just not quite as good as some pints of this I've had.
02 Mar 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Welsh beer festival in progress here with beers stillaged in the courtyard.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bryncelyn - Buddy Marvellous4.00ExcellentDark ruby/brown mild with excellent biscuity malt character. Low hop rate and a little berry fruitiness in the finish. My score 16/20.
Swansea - Deep Slade Dark4.00GoodDark brown mild with some roast malt and a little hop bitterness in the finish. My score 15/20.
19 Feb 2010 (Ian)
James Watt from BrewDog was down to launch the Sink The Bismarck, the strongest beer in the world, so I came with the other London beer glitterati to get a piece of the action. I even ended up on the BrewDog blog video of the event. Don't really remember too much else apart from talking to a Sake Sommelier from a restaurant in Knightsbridge. BrewDog Hardcore on tap was awesome.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)4.70ExcellentI mean it was hard to keep up with a quadruple IPA in the Bismarck, and the Hardcore at 9.2% ABV, but this on cask was still really good.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Harwich Town - Phoenix APA5.00GoodAmerican Pale Ale with bags of citrus hop taste and a dry, hoppy finish. Little malt balance. My score 15/20.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Harviestoun - Mr Snoballs4.50GoodTraditional bitter with moderate citrus hop taste balanced with some maltiness. My score 15/20.
17 Dec 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
Comparitevely quiet at 4.30 pm compared with the already packed Market Porter.
BeerABVScoreNotes
BrewDog - Equity for Punks3.70PoorDarkish red/brown beer with extreme bitterness but little in the way of balance. My score 11/20.
28 Nov 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
BeerABVScoreNotes
Freeminer - Fairplay Organic5.00PoorDominated by an appley fruitiness with no body to the beer at all. Rather disappointing. My score 11/20.

The pub is found in Southwark, Central London, SE1 9AG.

Small pub on the north side of Borough Market run by the same people who own the Utobeer bottled beer stall in the market itself. The bar has 3 hand pulls serving UK cask beers and 6 taps supplying continental and world beers. An extensive bottle beer selection is also available from the fridges behind the bar. The bar has stripped wood floors, pale beige walls and a historic Pilkington glass ceiling. A decked patio provides extra space and seating. Definitely an excellent addition to the Southwark beer scene.

We have visited this pub 151 times, seen 348 different beers and tried 249 of them.
