Best juke box of any pub in Canterbury, not that it is loud, but it does have some classic rock on it. Same beer line up as Andrew's visit.
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | | I love this beer, so I really wanted this to be good, but it didn't hit the heights. Hops didn't have the necessary bite and the malt was wondering around somewhere on its own. |

Quite a few people in but Ian and I managed to get a seat at the back. This is another good pub with a small range of bottled conditioned beers on sale too.
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Lots of caramalised berry and candy flavours with a leafy bitterness. |
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried
Greene King - Ruddles Best (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | Not Tried

There's a house next to the pub that has an interesting nativity scene and we wanted to see that. However, on peering in the pub window the offerings were too much to resist. The pub was fairly busy with a mainly student crowd.
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Excellent pint that I could have stuck with all night if I'd have had the time. Very good malt with an earthy hop. Hints of stawberry and mango. Top stuff. |
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried
Greene King - Ruddles Best (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | Never seen this before. |

Pub no. 5 on my crawl. In sight of the cathedral this is an open pub with cream and black walls, stripped wood floor and wooden tables and chairs. There were a group of lads in the corner drinking lager and red bull.
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | | Golden with white head. Sweaty hop and then red berry too. Aroma is tremendous. Bit thin in mouth, earthy, muddy. Shame. Can be best beer brewed in Kent |
Greene King - Ruddles Best (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
29 Dec 2005 (Ian)
Bare wood floorboards, wooden tables and chairs. White lgiht and cream walls. Good music pub and beer is always good too. Good hubbub from youthful clientele and one of the better jukeboxes in Canterbury. Normally 3 beers on handpump
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | | Sherbert hop aroma. Golden, tad acidic. Good raspberry fruit. Sharp, tangy hop. Not quite as full as it can be. |
Greene King - Ruddles Best (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | | Copper, thin bubbly off white head. Some yeast/apple on nose. Little character or malt in mouth. Earthy yeasty hop finish. Undistinguished dull bitter except for hop/yeast sharp finish. Bit muddy |
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Young's London Special (was Special) | 4.50 | Not Tried
09 Jul 2005 (Ian)
Visited with Andrew on a late Saturday afternoon. Good music, good spit and sawdust stripped floors and lots of wood. Liked the juke box which seemed to be tuned to rock and heavy metal. 2 beer engines on
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | Had this twice in 2 days and I must say both times it was very good. Nice hoppy feel |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
09 Jul 2005 (Andrew)
All the doors and windows were open and there was loud heavy metal and rock playing. The inside was stained wood floors and stressed wood furniture. I like this pub.
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | Pale, hoppy beer with a slight rich maltiness about it. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
