Early evening. As always using this pub as my Cape Canaveral for a launchpad into Kent by high-speed train.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Siren Craft - Broken Dream Breakfast Stout6.50ExcellentHas TE's pricing policy changed, thought guests were not usually as highly priced as £4.90 pp. Superb beer though

I had reason to visit the shops at Stratford this-evening and passed a while in here before braving the cold walk home.

A quiet Monday evening session with Ray and Terry, until they rushed off for a Quiz League fixture at the Black Bull in Stratford.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Sequoia4.50ExcellentA really nice, tasty, US-style Amber.
Burning Sky - Plateau (was 3.5%)3.40ExcellentA reliably excellent, pale, hoppy thing.
Tap East - IPA6.00ExcellentA fresh brew and absolutely lush.
Bristol Beer Factory - Enigma4.40GoodI had muddled this with Kent Brewery’s Black IPA of the same name, so was surprised to find a red/brown beer in my glass. “Unexpected Item in Bagging Area”, as they say. Nice though, a tasty, mellow US-style Red.

Very quiet this-evening, with numbers in the pub never getting into double figures whilst I was here.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Mid-evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kirkstall - Three Swords4.50ExcellentA very nice, full-bodied Pale Ale with good hop flavours.
Tap East - East End Mild3.50AcceptableI rarely drink Mild. This is dark and smooth and creamy, but also just a bit insubstantial.

Christmas shopping done (I’ve discovered that if you wait long enough the crowds dissipate) and time for a couple in here.

I did half think about doing some Christmas shopping, but as soon as the sheer scale of the overcrowding at Westfield shops became apparent I decided to spend my savings here on beer instead.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Tap East - Tonic Ale3.00GoodAn always reliable, low-strength, hoppy Pale Ale.

Early evening meet up with Dave K, who is breaking a rail journey from Chatham to Peterborough. Pretty busy at this time. Beer quality here is usually faultless, but everything is in flat condition tonight – something amiss.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Summer Wine (SWB) - Zenith Pale Ale4.00AcceptablePale gold beer spoilt by flat condition.
Tap East - A.P.A. (American Pale Ale)4.30AcceptableUsual flavours dampened by flat condition.
Wylam - Single Hop Series: 003 Rakau4.40AcceptableI’m sure there is a great beer in here somewhere, but this pint not in great condition.

Just passing through on my way home from Limehouse. Simon F is at the bar and we pass a pleasant half hour talking about new and forthcoming London breweries, of which there is a bewildering number.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bedlam - India Pale Ale4.80AcceptableAn amber-coloured, British-style IPA brewed using English hops. A little disappointing – could have had more hop character in my view.
Tap East - A.P.A. (American Pale Ale)4.30Not Tried

Sunday evening wind-down session and some excellent beer tonight.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Tap East - Pud8.00ExceptionalOn keg dispense. I’m not usually a fan of ‘Christmas Special’ beers, but would be if they all tasted like this. This is a ‘treacle, raisin and brandy Stout’ – with each of those ingredients apparent in a rich and warming beer. Sorely tempted to invest in some of the bottles for laying up.
Tap East - Red Rye5.00ExcellentHazy amber colour. Fruity hops, tangy rye malt. Very nice.
CTZN (formerly Kew) - Pagoda No. 6 Pale Ale4.50ExcellentA cloudy, golden beer. Heavily-hopped with Pilot and Pioneer.
Tap East - East End Mild3.50Not Tried
Arbor Ales - Blue Sky Drinking4.40Not Tried
