A brief stop on the way home.
One Mile End Brew Co. (formerly Mulligans at the White Hart and then WH Brew Pub) - Hospital Porter | 5.20 | | Good to see cask beers from the new One Mile End brewery premises in Tottenham beginning to appear in pubs. This is a really good Porter with an underlying smokiness to the taste. |

Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried
Stroud - Budding Pale Ale | 4.50 | Not Tried
Tap East - Hallertau Weisse | 4.30 | Not Tried

Mid to late-evening. Steady flow of customers.

I ran into a good friend on the train back from Hastings and we adjourned here for a couple of evening beers.
Oakham - Citra | 4.20 | | Lovely. I read somewhere recently that Citra is now Oakham’s biggest seller – not surprised at all. |
Hammerton - Life on Mars | 4.60 | | An above average Red Ale; not too sweet. But still a Red Ale. |
Tap East - Commercial Road IPA | 5.40 | | A bit more settled than it was on Wednesday. Still cloudy and spicy and I think that I have to conclude that it is a hop spiciness. I still don’t care for it, but Terry was soon ready for seconds. |
Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried
Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.50 | Not Tried
25 May 2016 (Stephen Harris)
A new beer launch here tonight and about half the crowd are here for that – would have been quiet otherwise.
Redemption - Fellowship Porter | 5.10 | | Top notch Porter. |
Vocation - Chop & Change Summit | 4.50 | | Golden and clear. Nice hop tastes, putting tonight’s Tap East beer in the shade. |
Tap East - Commercial Road IPA | 5.40 | | A one-off beer brewed with help from Melissa Cole and her father. It is a very cloudy ‘old gold’ sort of colour. Very bitter. Has a spicy taste which might come from the English hops (Endeavour and Warrior Queen) or equally might come from the large quantity of suspended yeast in my pint. I didn’t really care for it, but got home to read rave reviews on Twitter – so what do I know. |
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Redemption Pale Ale | 3.80 | Not Tried
Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried
Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.50 | Not Tried

Evening until late. I run into a well-refreshed group of East London CAMRA-types here, full of praise for Wild Weather Brewery beers, having just returned from a coach trip to that brewery. Otherwise the pub is still mostly populated by international standard swimmers, easily distinguished from the CAMRA bods by their big muscles, wet hair and blinking, reddened eyes.
Steel City (cuckoo at Toolmakers) - Cravend'ale | 4.70 | | I do like this one and stuck with it for most of the evening. |
Tap East - A.P.A. (American Pale Ale) | 4.30 | | A very fruity, cloudy, amber-coloured beer. |
Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Melba Peach IPA | 5.20 | Not Tried
Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.50 | Not Tried

15 May 2016 (Stephen Harris)
There has been an aquatic event of some sort on the Olympic Park today and most customers here are wearing the colours of the Netherlands, France, Norway and Sweden.
Steel City (cuckoo at Toolmakers) - Cravend'ale | 4.70 | | A black oatmeal Milk Stout with plenty of hops. |
Ghost - Banshee | 5.10 | | A cloudy, amber-coloured, Rye IPA. |
By The Horns - Diamond Geezer | 4.90 | Not Tried

10 May 2016 (Stephen Harris)
Quick one in passing. Mid-evening-ish. Other beers as listed by PP.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Peverel | 4.50 | | Yummy – just what the doctor ordered. A pale golden ‘Session IPA’ single-hopped with lots of citrusy Mosaic. Just my kind of thing. |
