Lunchtime cycle meet. About ten of us taking over the front bar - we were made very welcome.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | | New Year, old favourite- didn’t disappoint. |
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00
Nelson - Santa's Salvo | 4.50 | | 4.3 version. New Year, new beer. Not really to my liking though. |

Two of us came here for a late lunch. We had a reservation and were offered inside or garden seating. The garden was fairly busy so we chose to sit in the restaurant part of this pub. There had been a problem in the kitchen and we noticed a considerable number of people returning meals and complaining of waiting times. We probably did very well by avoiding the 1pm rush as our food (and beer of course) was excellent.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | On top form, I had several of these. |
Whitstable - Native Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried

Late morning visit, a really nice pub, just what a village local should be like. Fairly quiet at this time of day but there was one chap practicing his darts and a group of ladies having coffees. It was nice to see bar billiards here.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Very good Harveys. |
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried
Exmoor - Gold | 4.50 | Not Tried

Mid afternoon. Some eaters plus two (mature) drinkers sitting at the bar playing with their phones. I took the opportunity of counting the pewter tankards on display - 44, is this a record?
Then sauntered in the garden in the sunshine - it is a decent size and set well back from the busy road.
Wye Valley - HPA (Hereford Pale Ale) | 4.00 | | Refreshing and in good condition - but very pale - a few more hops wouldn’t have gone amiss. |
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried
Westerham - British Bulldog | 4.10 | Not Tried
14 Mar 2019 (Jack William)
Mid afternoon bus break en route from Minster to Canterbury. Busy. Disappointed that we had to ask for all 4 pints to be topped up.
Otter - Springfest | 4.00 | | Not really to my taste. |
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Bexley - Golden Acre | 4.00 | Not Tried

Mid afternoon. Four or five drinkers in the main bar. Goodys being delivered. Nice feel to it.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Green Hop Ale (2016) | 4.80 | | 2018 version - spot on, delicious. |
Greene King - Ruddles County | 4.30 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried

A really attractive pub this one. Exactly what I want from a village pub; low beams, nooks, crannies, worn wood, deep rich-green furnishings. If I still lived in Wingham I'd be here a lot.
Franklins - Mama Knows Best | 4.10 | | She cleared the pipes before serving me. Excellent condition. Oakay, rough tar-like malt and black pepper hops. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Batemans - Autumn Fall | 4.20 | Not Tried
17 Mar 2017 (Jack William)
St Patrick's day just after 5. Very busy with diddly diddly music from a group of 5 strings giving it their all. Good craic I believe is the correct description.
Nelson - Scrum Half | 4.00 | | Malty. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Long Man - Long Blonde | 3.80 | Not Tried
