One other in. Great pub interior. Lots of red leather and 1970's working man's club chairs. Lots of interesting music on the stereo.

Saturday afternoon and very quiet, for most of the time I was the only customer, but they were expecting a busy evening as the popular Dover Skiffle Band were playing there later on.

I was pleased to discover that all the cask ales were £2.50 per pint, the barman told me that this was a Wednesdays only price. Surprisingly I was the only customer.

Evening. Pity that the live jazz band had just started a break. Probably the best old type boozer in Dover now and the years of fags and beer remain in its very ambience.

13:30 visit. Current 2013 gbg entry and 6 times previously in 1985/2008-12. First time here. Very impressive collection of old jazz memorabilia and the landlady celebrated 50 years in charge last weekend. Just one of the daughters and me in at this time. Nice pub.

The pub is found in Dover, Kent, CT16 1RA.

Originally called The Grapes, a former Bass Charrington house. I came here after its review in the Good Beer Guide said it was lively and had live bands on. It ticked one of those boxes. There was a band on and they were quite good, unfortunately there was nobody else in the pub! It was probably due to everyone being at Crabble Mill but it was a shame to see. This place had great beer, really friendly staff and the band were great guys too. 4 handpumps on the front bar counter. A small stage in the back for live jazz and other musical events. Nice etched windows on doors to ladies and gents toilets. In September 2012 the landlady here completed 50 years in situ - a momentous achievement these days. She unfortunately passed away in early 2019.

We have visited this pub 32 times, seen 45 different beers and tried 28 of them.
