BeerABVScoreNotes
King Beer (formerly W.J. King) - Merry Ale6.50GoodQuite a sweet beer with fruity hoppiness, some toffee malt and a full bodied flavour. My score 15/20.
31 Oct 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Fairly busy on a Sunday lunchtime visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Titanic - New York Wheat Porter4.20GoodDark brown with some opaqueness. Quite a strong sour wheat taste to this, not entirely counteracted by the dark malty flavours. My score 15/20.
Wadworth - Pixley Black6.00GoodRather thin tasting for its strength, seemed to be lacking a depth of flavour. Slight hint of fruit but mainly a malty sweetness. Rather disappointing. My score 15/20.
12 Sep 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Very quiet for a Sunday lunchtime. Maybe it's due to the down at heel state of the pub these days with ripped upholstery and a general uncared for feel. I had three attempts at getting a beer that was actually on.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Westerham - Grasshopper Kentish Bitter3.80GoodDarkish bitter with a full bodied hop and malt flavour. Dryish hoppy finish. My score 15/20.
Westerham - Finchcocks Original3.50Not TriedShown as available but in fact hadn't been connected to the line.
Royal Tunbridge Wells - Royal Best Bitter4.10Not TriedRan out as I ordered it.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Westerham - Single Hop Challenger4.00ExcellentExcellent depth of flavour from a good mix of crisp hoppiness and biscuity malt. Some citrus flavours in the finish. My score 16/20.

BeerABVScoreNotes
King Beer (formerly W.J. King) - Glorious Victorious5.00ExcellentOne of the best King beers I've tried, a traditional strong bitter. Quite sweet with good malt base and fruity hoppiness. My score 16/20.
07 Apr 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marston's - Zululand Zulu Blonde4.50GoodPale gold with quite sweet and appley initial taste. Maltiness then takes over to the finish. Displays obvious Burton parentage. My score 15/20.
Caledonian - Old Seadog IPA5.20AcceptableNot a favourite of mine, very sharp, bitter piney hop flavour and little malt balance. Sharp dry finish. My score 12/20.
20 Mar 2010 (Pedro)
Called in twice whilst waiting for bus connections

BeerABVScoreNotes
Weltons - Molly Malone4.10AcceptableThe Irish beer in the Rugby 6 nations series. A traditonal red ale with bitter roast malt and a dry, bitter hoppy finish. My score 14/20.
17 Jan 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Much improved outlet with better beer range now than the Tonbridge outlet. Staffing levels better too and food quality improved. Now worth a look in.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Weltons - Yang Metal Tiger4.10AcceptableRather strange pale bitter with a slightly spicy/grassy hop taste. Citrussy finish. My score 14/20.
15 Jan 2010 (Ian)
Took a POETS afternoon and came to Tunbridge Wells in the hope of finding some Larkins Porter and failed. Came to the Opera House to see what it is like and very impressive interior, the ceiling in particular above the stalls. I sat on the stage and typed this.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Theakston - Old Peculier5.60GoodAlways worth having. Some wood shavings, some perfume, but mostly a solid old ale. Good chewy malts.
Weltons - Yang Metal Tiger4.10PoorI swore myself off Weltons beer for this reason. Bleach and hop. Couldn't finish a half pint.
