Early evening and just a few locals enjoying some chat.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Timothy Taylor - Landlord Dark (was Ram Tam)4.30GoodFull flavoured winter warmer. Hard to think it's Landlord and added caramel.
Idle - Tongue4.30PoorAggressively bitter. Seems appropriately named.

Sadly, the Fyne mini-fest was coming to an aend.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Sanda Black5.50AcceptableLess defined than previously. Hops not so clear, roasty grains less apparent.

It's like Christmas! Fyne Ales mini-festival in full swing.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Jarl3.80ExcellentUncompromisingly bitteroffest by citrus hops and drying finish.
Fyne - Sanda Black5.50ExcellentRock solid black IPA. Smooth roasty/grainy malt base with just enough hopping to cut through.
Fyne - Cloud Burst4.50GoodBurnished copper. Fruity overtones balanced by sharp hops.

Busting and friendly. All six pumps will be taken over by Fyne Ales during the week. Sanda Black and Rune still to come on.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Jarl3.80ExcellentLight, hoppy, bitter, tasty. One example of my 'perfect pint'.
Fyne - Cloud Burst4.50ExcellentShining copper ale with restrained malts and signature hoppiness.
Fyne - Sanda Blonde5.50AcceptableAnother IPA Project which doesn't fully convince. As with the Lismore everything seems muted and undefined.
Fyne - Piper's Gold3.80Not Tried

Beautiful evening on the harbour-side. Both pubs doing a roaring trade.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Regatta Day and busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Burnside - 3-Bullz3.80AcceptableSeems to me that Burnside need to get some consistency into their brews. This version of 3-Bullz was a bog standard malty bitter; others have been very dry or very hoppy. Pot luck.

Disappointing beer selection. Seems like Aberdeenshire landlords have an aversion to light, hoppy (summery) beers.

Rain and showers. Quiet really.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Stewart - Solas5.00GoodNot a fan of Stewart's house style which always seems to be thin and lacking Solas came as a pleasant surprise. It's their take on an IPA/red ale. Surprisingly robust and full bodied it could take the pronounced hops easily. More care in hop selection and use would have given this an 'excellent' rating.

Quiet - mostly locals in for a chat.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Three Castles - Castle Wheat4.50PoorLacking in spice, body or anything really. Again slightly astringent.
Black Wolf (formerly Traditional Scottish Ales (TSA)) - Knops IPA5.00PoorClear golden ale, thin white head, vegetable aroma, malty, no body, bitter with a bit of astringency in the finish
