Convivial. Lots of visitors enjoying Stonehaven.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Jarl3.80ExcellentEnjoyable session beer. Not quite as forward as two days ago. Mellowed a little and lost a bit.

Good mid-week crowd.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Jarl3.80ExceptionalExtraordinary! Very pale with tight white head. Bursting with citrus aromas which explode in the mouth - mostly grapefruit but orange and peach also present. Good malt body and long bittering finish. Served in excellent condition.
Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30GoodInteresting to see how beer evolves. Gone are the biscuit hints replaced by more floral flavours. Slightly more assertive mouth feel.
10 Apr 2011 (Ray)
Beautiful evening to enjoy a beer on the harbour side.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30ExcellentAt its best this is an excellent traditional bitter. Good malt body hints of biscuit and enough bitterness to make it moreish.

BrewDog - Riptide Stout4.10Not TriedAt 4.1% this cannot be Riptide an 8% Imperial Stout.

Busy. Lets hope the 'muzak' is a temporary aberration. It added nothing but distraction to atmosphere.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30ExcellentFresh and slightly biscuity. Good balance of malt and hops with some bitterness on the finish.
25 Feb 2011 (McGargle)
Busy. Mostly drinkers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Deeside - Broichan5.20GoodPleasant, slightly sweet malty ale with hints of coffee, enough hopiness to keep it iteresting. A good winter warmer. Now brewed to 4.5%.

Yet another bad beer here. For a current 'POTY' the owners really need to look at quality control. Young staff are willing but can't judge a beer. Maybe also 6 beers on is 2 too many at this time of year.

Absolutely jammed with people watching the rugby.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Inveralmond - Thrappledouser4.30Acceptable
Williams Brothers - Red4.50UndrinkableMore Sarson's than Williams'. Told bar staff who said it had 'been on sale for some time'. Still on sale a good while later. Not impressed for a current POTY.

Really busy. Had to wave frantically to get noticed.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Hurricane Jack4.40ExcellentUltra-hoppy and pale. Grapefruit and soft tropical fruit. To get 5* it needed more from the malts.

Surprisingly quiet. Disappointing to see fellow drinkers hadn't cleared the fantastic Sublime Stout.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Pleasant. Beers still cold.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Sublime Stout6.80ExcellentExtraordinarily complex but well balanced stout. Would have been 5* is served at appropriate temperature. Still a 'beer of the year' contender and it's only early January.
Fyne - Piper's Gold3.80AcceptableAs the beer ages a little more fruit is evident.
Arran (formerly Isle of Arran) - Fireside4.70Not Tried
