Visits Details
08 Nov 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close. My builder was unexpectedly sitting in the corner having taken my advice that he should visit sometime. Guv told good tales of an excellent CAMRA Greater London Regional Pub of the Year presentation night here on Wednesday - certificate now proudly displayed above the cellar view window,.
Hop Back - Redsell's EKG | 3.90
Tring - Ibex | 3.90 | | Lovely dry bitterness |
Green Jack - Golden Best | 3.80
04 Nov 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close. Just a small crowd round the small bar counter.
Rockin Robin - Hoppin Robin | 3.70
Strathaven - Festival Ale | 4.50
01 Nov 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close.
Kent - Green Giant | 6.00 | | Even better than on Thursday night. A magical joint venture weaved twixt brewer and the cellarman |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | Not Tried
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried | Ran out |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - Gale's HSB | 4.80 | Not Tried
30 Oct 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close. The Jolly Green Giant was, at last, in residence to greet me.
Kent - Pale | 4.00 | | |
Kent - Green Giant | 6.00 | | Had been in the cellar for about a fortnight before tapping. Complex and one to savour. At the end I think everyone was having one |
Goody Ales - Bleangate Brewery - Genesis | 3.50 | Not Tried | Ran out |
Adnams - Wild Hop | 4.80 | Not Tried
22 Oct 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close. There is a Kent Green Giant in the cellar as a tempter to make hopeful but still unrequited return visits. 2 customers recounted past "event filled" exploits at the early Covent Garden and Ally Pally CAMRA beer festivals.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | | Such a contrast to the 2 lighter beers. Not a hint of citrus |
Kent - Pale | 4.00 | | |
Rudgate - Asgard Legend | 4.00 | | Usually avoid Rudgate beers for some irrationally deep seated prejudice. This example was a multi-layered tasting golden ale and I liked it |
18 Oct 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close.
Kent - Brewers Reserve | 5.00 | | Everything was right |
Arundel - Autumn Breeze | 4.60
Itchen Valley - Hampshire Rose | 4.20 | Not Tried
Wolf - Poppy Ale | 4.20 | Not Tried | Ran out |
16 Oct 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40
Kent - Brewers Reserve | 5.00
Tonbridge - Capel Pale Ale | 4.50 | | A freebie very last pint squeezed out. Still clear and had a distinctive bitterness |
11 Oct 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close.
Kent - Pale | 4.00 | | |
Franklins - English Garden | 3.80
Adnams - Old Ale | 4.10 | Not Tried
Bexley - Redhouse | 4.20 | Not Tried | Ran out |
08 Oct 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close. Just time for two.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | | All the bitter and sweet nuances came out |
Kent - Pale | 4.00 | | |
Cottage - Autumn Gold | 4.10 | Not Tried | Never seen before, probably will never see again |
04 Oct 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close. Spontaneity, madness and mayhem ruled as the session ended with the potman and myself miming and mouthing to the opening riff of Led Zep's Dazed and Confused to a very small audience indeed. Some Ramble On then time to depart.
Tonbridge - Blonde Ambition | 4.20
Mighty Oak - Kings (was 3.9% before 2013) | 4.20 | | Contains pale malt and caramalt. I had been disappointed elsewhere with Kings but this was top notch here. A Citra hop beer with good balance rather than dominated by Citra in your face |
Triple fff - Rock Lobster (has previously been 4% & 4.5%) | 5.00 | Not Tried
Goody Ales - Bleangate Brewery - Genesis Green Hop | 3.50 | Not Tried | Ran out |
