BeerABVScoreNotes
Three Castles - Vale Ale4.30Excellent
Loch Ness - Loch Ness4.40ExcellentUsual Scottish malt dominance
Titanic - Night to Movember4.30ExcellentSlight name change for men's health month. If my palate was in knowledgeable form I thought this tasted of a saison style but I could easily stand corrected
15 Nov 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close. I was made to leave and return as I had arrived 1 minute before my expected time!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 54.40ExcellentGreat head and a balanced contrast to the Gemstone harsh bitterness
Gemstone (brewed on Nelson plant) - Sapphire Blonde4.00GoodAstringent with too much sour bitterness for me
Brighton Bier - Thirty Three Pale Ale3.30Not TriedTaster came across as fuller flavoured than 3.3% might imply
08 Nov 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close. My builder was unexpectedly sitting in the corner having taken my advice that he should visit sometime. Guv told good tales of an excellent CAMRA Greater London Regional Pub of the Year presentation night here on Wednesday - certificate now proudly displayed above the cellar view window,.

Kent - Pale4.00Excellent
Kent - Green Giant6.00ExcellentHad been in the cellar for about a fortnight before tapping. Complex and one to savour. At the end I think everyone was having one

Adnams - Wild Hop4.80Not Tried
22 Oct 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close. There is a Kent Green Giant in the cellar as a tempter to make hopeful but still unrequited return visits. 2 customers recounted past "event filled" exploits at the early Covent Garden and Ally Pally CAMRA beer festivals.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 54.40ExcellentSuch a contrast to the 2 lighter beers. Not a hint of citrus
Kent - Pale4.00Excellent
Rudgate - Asgard Legend4.00ExcellentUsually avoid Rudgate beers for some irrationally deep seated prejudice. This example was a multi-layered tasting golden ale and I liked it

The pub is found in Welling, Greater London, DA16 1TR.

Located in Welling High Street this is Greater London's first micropub and it follows the East Kent model initiated by Martyn Hillier at The Butchers Arms in Herne. Opened Friday 15th March 2013. For many years a corn chandler's shop selling, amongst other things, millet for bird seed. Most recently an electrical lighting shop. Planning permission received for conversion to a Micropub in late 2012. Has a separate cooled cask room with wooden gravity stillage which can be viewed through a window in the main bar. Real ales, ciders and wine are served to a small bar counter by the stillage room door. Lined glasses in regular use. One main front bar and a smaller rear quiet room with a real fire (not currently used), comfortable seating and darts board, leading to a Unisex toilet. The main bar comprises wall mounted bench seating and normal height tables. The pub name does not refer to its previous use but is a family joke related to the original Guv here. CAMRA Bexley Branch Pub of the Year for 2014 - not bad after just one year of being open. CAMRA Greater London Regional Pub of the Year 2014, deserved and even more astounding. Changed hands on Friday 11th October 2019. Card payments accepted.

We have visited this pub 353 times, seen 510 different beers and tried 372 of them.
