Early evening stop on the way home. Pub very busy with after-workers and post-shoppers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - McConnel's5.00ExcellentBlack, dry, creamy stout with vanilla flavour.
Tap East - IPA5.80ExcellentWhat tasted fruity on Monday, today tastes spicy and peppery. All-English hops in this one I think.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Kipling5.20Not Tried

Just passing through after work, but ran in to a couple of friends and decided to stay a while and sample some IPAs.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Burning Sky - Devil's Rest IPA7.00ExcellentSuperb, strong IPA.
Tap East - IPA5.80ExcellentI think this is back to the original recipe, rather than one of the single-hop variety IPAs produced here. Nice and fruity.
Siren Craft - Neither Imperial IPA8.30AcceptableOn keg dispense, chilled and lightly carbonated. Had what I call a ‘cardboard’ hop taste that you sometimes find in US bottled beers which I had always thought of as staleness or light damage. But, assuming this keg was fairly brewery-fresh, I assume it is just a hop taste I don’t like.

At last it seems that the post-Christmas shopping frenzy is starting to die down and Westfield was not too manic this-evening. Still good to reach the calm of this pub though.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harbour - Porter No.15.50ExcellentA Stout Porter in all but name I think.

A busy night at Tap East with the tapping of a special beer which has been quietly aging away in a wooden red wine barrel.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Tap East - La Lumière Rouge7.40ExcellentA wooden barrel-aged saison style beer. Amber/red in colour. It is smooth and warming, a bit spicy and a bit sour.
Tap East - IPA Chinook5.80ExcellentPale, hoppy, strong and bitter.
Ilkley - Forbidden Fruit5.00ExcellentA pale ale brewed with experimental Hop #1391, which imparts a strong grapefruit-like flavour. The addition to this beer of some pink grapefruit juice during the brewing process enhances the taste.
Pig & Porter - Red Spider Rye (superseded by 4.8% version)5.50GoodPig & Porter are now brewing on their own plant in Tunbridge Wells.

Late afternoon on a Saturday and it is crowded in here. The tailenders of a North London Line pubcrawl are still here when I arrive, and they seem to have had a good day.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Burning Sky - Aurora5.60ExcellentHard-core, fierce, strong, golden IPA.
Out There - Laika4.80AcceptableI enjoy a good Belgian-style Witbier. But I’m afraid I didn’t much like this one.

I think it was Pete Brown who compared the Westfield shopping centre to Dante’s Inferno. It’s an apt comparison and the fiery furnaces of Hell are on full blast today for the legions of shopping addicts thronging its corridors. Luckily, the Tap is in Limbo, right at the edge of the outer circle, and accessible without too much harrowing.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harbour - Chocolate Vanilla Imperial Stout8.50ExceptionalThe tasting notes are in the name. Heavenly.
Okell's - St. Nick4.50ExcellentNone of the Christmas spice I feared in here. Comes across as a hoppy, amber ale.
