27 Dec 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Efficiently run pub with space for diners and drinkers.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dark Conspiracy | 4.90 | | Dark brown porter with good fruity flavours and some dark malt character. My score 16/20. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider | 4.30 | Not Tried
08 Oct 2010 (Ian)
Again a pub I haven't been in ages. Will check it out from now on as it had a Wantsum beer on.
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | | Wish I'd had the 1381 like Andrew. This was ok, nothing wrong with it, but lacked anything to grip my tastebuds. |
08 Oct 2010 (Andrew)
Third pub on the "old school" tour. Did Ian have lager? Can't remember. No, come to think of it he had Youngs Bitter. Shame because the 1381 was excellent. Not too busy in the pub so we sat up the back.
Wantsum - 1381 | 3.80 | | Brilliant. Light, lemony with a hint of toasty-roastiness. |
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50 | Not Tried
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
01 Oct 2010 (pavorossi)
About 10 o'clock and absolutely packed, so stood outside in the rain instead.
Wantsum - 1381 | 3.80 | | |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Wells Bombardier (now superseded by 4.1% version) | 4.30 | Not Tried
23 Jul 2010 (Alenomore)
2015 visit and fairly quiet. A nice place and my first visit. Also tried and liked a Blushing Old Wife Cider on Draught here and very nice too.
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | | Good condition. |
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
06 Jan 2006 (Andrew)
Went straight after work for a friends leaving-do. It was quite quiet so there was still lots of seating avaliable. The decore has a hard duty pine theme with a padded bench seat running down one side. It seemed like a good pub to me.
Gale's - Robins Revenge | 4.00 | | A deep brown colour with a very malty and slightly caramel bite to it. Low hopping levels meant this was a good winter warmer of a pint. The finish was slightly tart and sort lived |
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Courage Directors (use Banks's entry now please) | 4.80 | Not Tried
