We'd gone to Canterbury for a walk really. We'd pottered through town and West Gate park and felt we'd earned a drink. As the Dolphin's got a nice garden we headed there. It was busy in the garden but we got a bench and then spent 20 minutes trying to entertain Isabel. The group of lads on the table next to us were quite amusing. One of them had a phone conversation with his mate that went like this, "I can't hear you. ...because you're drunk? Oh you're South African".
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | | Excellent condition. Slightly creamy with body. This felt like an oaty best bitter. Nothing like the Golden Braid of years ago which would blow your socks off with its dry, hoppy, blast. Still, a good session bitter. |

Sat out in the garden with Ian reminiscing about the good old days when geezers and their birds used to frequent this pub and the walls were full of American Football stuff, flags and foreign notes.
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | Reedy, plum skin caramel. Bit like Shep's Late Red. Weird. |

Ang from Ratebeer was down visiting his family in Ramsgate, so we met up for a mini Canterbury pub crawl, this was number one on the list. Very busy with a function in the rear.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Storm Warning | 5.00 | | Warming malty strong bitter. |

Quirky pub now as I can’t really figure out the clientele. Really has gone up market from when we first went in. It was advertising organic and fairtrade produce.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider | 4.30 | | Good. Really drinakble dry cereally beer. |

It was wet; it was cold; it was the kind of day that deserved a beer - so I let it have one. I sat at the far side of the main bar and took in the relaxed atmosphere afforded by the sedate clientele.
Nelson - Loose Cannon | 4.30 | | Excellent condition. Dark brown beer. Fruity with a smoky body. Very refreshing. |

Both myself and Andrew agree that this is a better pub than it used to be and that is saying something as it used to be a usual haunt for us 10-15 years ago. Really impressed that when my pint was poured, that I got another smaller glass with some beer in to top it up.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Little Cracker | 5.00 | | Soft, orangey citrus flavours are amazing. Along with Dark Conspiracy this is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. |

This pub is so much better these days. In part that's due to a change in clientele compared to the early 90's and in part it's due to the good beer line-up and ale-competent staff (e.g. they top your pint up without asking and keep the beer well). Still miss the flags though and the East Kent Bitter.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Little Cracker | 5.00 | | This was creamy, smooth and tasted of wood resins. I liked it. |

My my, 4 beers on!! with Skrimshander just gone off too. Full pub. Mostly Xmas parties. But nice to see it full. Definitely moved on frm the traditional pub it was 10 years ago.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Little Cracker | 5.00 | | Slightly creamier than in the Old Brewery Tavern. Lovely balanced hop, very good tangerine crystallised fruit. I now really look forward to having a Gadd's beer. Lovely fruit and hop on this. I had it as a 3.5/5 to start with but as the pint went down, I was really impressed. Yes, I would call this an excellent beer. Doesn't take much to make me happy, but a 4/5 beer in Canterbury does. |

Virtually empty after the dinner time trade had left.
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Best pint of this that I've had in ages. First pint out of a new barrel. Had that flowery sweetness that seemed to have gone missing. |
