As soon as I walk in the barmaid tells me how excited she is because it's going to snow and she has never seen snow in her life. Nonsense say I, it's far too mild. Within minutes there are blizzard conditions outside and she is beside herself with excitement.

Well, I've only gone and told them at work where they can stick their poxy job. Admittedly, this leaves me at something of a loose end today and I am in here way too early in the day. I even have to wait for chef to fire up the furnaces before I can order a pizza.
BeerABVScoreNotes

My football match was an early kick-off today and I’m in the unusual situation of being in a pub on a Saturday afternoon – not my usual habitat at all. In my confusion I order a pizza at a time when the kitchen is quiet. The pizza is delicious, although at 4pm I’m not sure if it is a late lunch or an early dinner.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Magic Rock - Dairyfreak5.20ExcellentBlack and milky sweet. Like vanilla ice cream. Really nice.

I’m here for the launch of four new collaboration beers, brewed to help celebrate the Five Points Brewery’s fifth anniversary. Disappointed to find that all four are on keg dispense. The pub is jammed.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Five Points - Blueberry Sour4.30ExcellentOn keg dispense. Brewed with Gipsy Hill Brewery. Purple in colour and well-carbonated. Sharply fruity and nicely tart.
Five Points - Belgian Wit5.00ExcellentOn keg dispense. Brewed with Burning Sky Brewery. A great Witbier. Lemony and zesty and spicy. Addition of pepper in the brew gives a good extra dimension.
Five Points - IPL6.50GoodOn keg dispense. Brewed with Magic Rock Brewery. A nice, hoppy Lager.
Five Points - Table Beer2.20AcceptableOn keg dispense. Brewed with Wiper & True. Amber in colour. Well-hopped, but thin and the taste over-dominated by the excessive carbonation.

I’m a bit early for an event at a pub nearby so pop in here to try Five Points’ new beer. I feel a bit foolish drinking a keg beer that I don’t greatly enjoy, when a couple of my favourite cask beers are on the bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Five Points - Juma5.50AcceptableFrom keg dispense. A disappointing, hazy gold IPA that lacks freshness. Dry, bitter and herbal.

It is again absolutely rammed in here in the early evening. Luckily some friends arrived very early and managed to bag a table.

The pub is found in Hackney, Greater London, E8 1JH.

This pub was built in around 1866 and for many years was a Truman’s house. By the 1970s it was best known as a live music venue. The pub was refurbished in 1983 and by 1986 had been acquired by Banks & Taylor Brewery. Closed for five and a half years from 1998, it re-opened but led a precipitous existence until acquired by Milton Brewery in 2006. In May 2018 the keys passed to the nearby Five Points Brewery. It is a large, stone and brick building on a busy junction near Hackney Downs and Central railway stations. The long wooden bar has 6 handpumps (down from 16 in Milton’s time). There is a bar billiards table, a pizza kitchen and a small outside seating area beside the road junction.

We have visited this pub 85 times, seen 231 different beers and tried 163 of them.
