Arrived just in time at 7pm to here the doors unlock, and like Bees to the Honeypot, 10 people in within 15minutes? Quickie before riding off in last of the daylight.

Late lunchtime and en-route on another Marsh Ride. Today it was very quiet here with just a smattering of locals about.

En-route from the nearby Hamstreet Auto jumble, a late lunchtime visit and the pub, the garden, and car park were completely full up plus the road opposite. A gathering of bikes, members and followers had stopped off on a memorial run for a fallen member. This scene harked back to the good old days when this place was full up nearly every weekend.

Late afternoon visit for a couple of hours, midway through a 225km Kent Coast ride-out. Garden was busy with the mid summer beer festival in full swing, with twelve ales on and local cider. With live music too. Inside was nice and got talking to two more bike nuts! Great day, even better pub..😉

Arrived, from the nearby Hamstreet Festival of Transport Show, just after opening and already a few in plus Doris out back sorting a box of (more) old photo's, and Kate about too. Cyclist's, locals and passing day-trippers and holiday visitors are all attracted to this quaint pub. Stayed for an hour and then off onto Folkestone Airshow.

Sunday lunchtime and packed with people enjoying a drink (this pub does not do food), a good turnout for the presentation of a certificate for runner up in the local Camra branch Pub of the Year Competition. It was good to see Kentish Ale again.

I arrived at just after 2pm to be greeted by a full car park with the only space for my bike across the road? Main bar was very busy with the runner up award for local pub being presented to Doris and Kate. Not normally this busy? Nice to meet ChrisE again. It soon thinned out with people going for there train ect, and the sun drenched garden was partaken for an hour before continuing my ride onto Folkestone.

The pub is found in Snargate, Kent, TN29 9UQ.

One of the best pubs in England. It's in CAMRA's national pub inventory because it hasn't really changed much in the last 100 years. In fact in 2011 the Jemison family celebrated 100 years of running the pub. All beers are on gravity and Goacher's is a regular. It's locally known as Doris's after the last landlady. Before that it was Alf's. A 20 minute (no more no less) brisk walk from / to Appledore railway station. Local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year 2015. The handpumps atop the pewter bar counter were used once upon a time but not now. Extensive garden for fair-weather use. Regrettably Doris died in April 2016. The pub closed for some weeks as a result of the bereavement. Re-opened, hopefully forever, on Saturday 11th June 2016. Presume it will soon become known as Kate's! Card payments now accepted here.

We have visited this pub 142 times, seen 215 different beers and tried 129 of them.
