A brief, late afternoon visit. Pub unusually quiet.

First stop on a pre-Christmas Hackney Central pub-crawl. Busy at 6pm, becoming very busy by 7. I felt a bit disloyal not drinking the Milton beers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Exit 33 (formerly The Brew Company then Sky's Edge) - Crazy Horse IPA5.10ExceptionalA very accomplished, amber, IPA. citrus and pine and a touch of toffee/caramel. My first 5-star beer for a couple of months I think.
Black Country - English Winter5.50GoodI think this might be a Burton Ale. Richly malty, unashamedly brown, and warming.

The pub is found in Hackney, Greater London, E8 1JH.

This pub was built in around 1866 and for many years was a Truman’s house. By the 1970s it was best known as a live music venue. The pub was refurbished in 1983 and by 1986 had been acquired by Banks & Taylor Brewery. Closed for five and a half years from 1998, it re-opened but led a precipitous existence until acquired by Milton Brewery in 2006. In May 2018 the keys passed to the nearby Five Points Brewery. It is a large, stone and brick building on a busy junction near Hackney Downs and Central railway stations. The long wooden bar has 6 handpumps (down from 16 in Milton’s time). There is a bar billiards table, a pizza kitchen and a small outside seating area beside the road junction.

We have visited this pub 85 times, seen 231 different beers and tried 163 of them.
