Early evening - friendly welcome (the landlady welcomes everyone with a kiss apparently). A few in and more as I was leaving. Very moderate prices £2.85 to £3.00 for stronger beers.
Rockin Robin - RPA | 3.90 | | Absolutely delightful. Excellent condition and a crisp blend of hops (English Golding and American Cascade) giving a refreshing bite. |

Evening. Glorious welcome. Quiet but there was another Micropub aficionado in who had visited many non-Kent ones and was outspoken on some listed as such but which should be declassified.
Hogs Back - HBB | 3.70 | | I liked this. Good old English brown bitter |
Hogs Back - Rip Snorter | 5.00 | | Curious heavily hopped oil aftertaste |
Rudgate - Viking | 3.80 | Not Tried
Kent - Cobnut | 4.10 | Not Tried
Canterbury Brewers - Foundry Torpedo | 4.50 | Not Tried
07 Jan 2015 (Jack William)
early evening just after 5 - a very warm welcome and a few in with some comings and goings in the short time I was in. Interesting chat with the owners - they are the 100th registered micropub in the UK and looking forward to their plaque.
Canterbury Brewers - Foundry Man's Gold | 4.00 | | I've had this in both the Foundry, where it is brewed, and the City Arms Canterbury, the sister pub and liked it - but this was superb and superior straight from the cask. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - DogBolter Dark Porter | 5.60 | | Wonderful rich flavour - head disappeared a little quickly, but very nice. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | Not Tried
Shepherd Neame - Bishops Finger | 5.00 | Not Tried
20 Dec 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Amazing welcome, in most comfortable surroundings, in what is obviously a labour of love for the couple running this new venture. Given an impromptu tour of facilities which are all to a high standard and well thought through.
RCH - Old Slug Porter | 4.50 | | Lovely condition |
Bespoke - Santa's Little Helper | 4.20
Dark Star - Festival | 5.00 | | Rather heavy |
Triple fff - Pressed Rat & Warthog | 3.80 | Not Tried
Adnams - Lighthouse | 3.40 | Not Tried
19 Dec 2014 (ChrisE)
Opening time on day one, it still had the Maxwell's Amusements signage above the doors and windows. Peter from the Mash Tun gave a short opening speech as the socialising commenced. I think there were four beers available but there had not been time to list them on the chalk board.
This pub is conveniently close to Dover Priory Railway Station so it may well become my first and last port of call on future visits to Dover.
Triple fff - Pressed Rat & Warthog | 3.80
Triple fff - Alton's Pride | 3.80 | | A good beer from a fresh cask, superb. |
Skinner's - Ginger Tosser | 3.80 | Not Tried
