I hadn't been in a bit and forgotten how good the beer is here. In terms of beer quality, definitely my favourite place in Folkestone. Only had 10 minutes before my train but still managed to get a half of Gadd's Dogbolter in.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - DogBolter Dark Porter5.60ExcellentOk so I had 10 minutes before my train so I could only have a very fast half, but this was good. Deep ruby colour with thin beige head. Really pretty fruity with some coffee and bit of choc. Hoppy drying finish. Exceptional dark fruit nose. Vinous in mouth with good warming alcohol. My friend Martin went back the following day and confirmed that it was indeed a cracking porter.

Came back in the evening. It was much busier with a far younger crowd who looked like they were on their way to the clubs.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Golden Gate4.50GoodNot sure what happened between lunch time and 8pm but this was much duller in flavour than when I first had it.
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50AcceptableDidn't taste much like Skrim to me. Dull and lifeless.

Lunch time and it was fairly quiet. Good pub though with extensive seating in a good sized down stairs 'chamber'.

Basement bar with 5 good beers on. Pub feel around bar area and then more seating with music, pool table and food. Here with Martin
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50ExceptionalFantastic pint. Perfect balance of red fruits and hops with a good malt structure to carry the beer through to a hoppy finish with more red berry fruit flavours. Stunner
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 54.40PoorMid brown bitter. Some malt flavours but untimately not that pleasant, which is a shame because it is normally very good here

Fairly quiet on a Tuesday early evening. 5 beers on all in good nick. Good music on in the bar as well.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50ExcellentGreat pint. Lots of fruit and hops.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider4.30AcceptableAmber colour, bit earthy on the nose with some fruits some berry little bit thin with dryish finish. Not as good as the No 5 which was on the pump next door which is what I should have had

Basement bar with up to 5 real ales on and a couple of good lagers. Beer is always in good condition. There is a bar area and then further seating for food/music further back. Feels like a place more for young people, but you get a good mix of ages here
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50ExcellentReally good berry fruit on this, lots of raspberry and strawberry with good floral hops to balance that give a good hit of astringency. Wonderful
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Prince Albert4.00GoodChestnut brown best bitter. Yeah a decent pint considering I am not a big fan of Wychwood beers. Quite fruity but there are enough hops to balance. Slightly sweet caramel with some raisiny fruit.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 54.40AcceptableHad this here a couple of weeks ago and it was a 4/5 very good. This was a bit odd. The beer went off on handpull so the barman took the class into the cellar behind the bar and poured the beer straight from the cask. Bit flat and cold, but actually this was alright by the end.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50GoodWas quite happy to sit doing the Su Doku in the Telegraph and Independent all afternoon with pints of Skrim on tap.Good elderflower and flowery hop nose, some fruitiness and a good balanced dry hop finish. Perfect for a session

Underground bar near to the centre of Folkestone. Has a bar area, pool table, seating, food and music towards the rear. Seems pretty lively with guest DJs and music. Up to 5 beers, 4 pretty regular (Adnams Bitter, Gadd's Dark, Ringwood Old Thumper and Hopdaemon Skrimshander) with 1 guest
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50ExcellentAmber/Gold colour. Flowery hop nose, raspberry/strawberry flavours, with more fragrant hops. Good balance. Afine beer with good length with some residual sweetness

Basement bar serving upto 5 real ales. Feels like a student/art/music venue to me. Atmosphere was fine, and the beer was served pretty well. Food available as well as a regular film club
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50GoodCopper coloured beer. Perfumed hoppy smell, hops dominate throughout. Good bitter finish, some red fruit malt. Not totally at its best, but still a lovely beer
