In Canterbury for a bit of Christmas shopping and dropped in here for lunch. Fair few sat round the bar and a few tables eating.

Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale3.90ExcellentFinally I can see what everyone has been raving about, the last couple of times I've tried this it's been far inferior. Really drinkable, fruity ale.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dark Conspiracy4.90GoodNot the best condition I've had this beer in, but it was still a nice pint.

Came in search of Wife of Bath. Ordered it but then changed my mind when I saw the Gadd's.

Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dark Conspiracy4.90AcceptableGood condition but woah, what is this! Cough candy and tar combo. So thick it crawled out of the glass itself.

Great pub. The landlady's dad was behind the bar and was his usual jovial self.

Early evening and most people were sitting outside.

Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale3.90GoodThis would have been outstanding if it wasn't for it being served far too warm. Real shame.

Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale3.90ExceptionalEver been out on a boiling hot day and gone for a swim? You know that feeling after you've been in the water for about 5 minutes and the initial shock of the cold has past and you've nearly cooled down? Well this beer is the drinking equivalent of that. Just superb.

Good thing about the summer is that everyone sits outside leaving the pub virtually empty. Sat at the back under the Fremlin's window and enjoyed my beer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale3.90ExcellentA touch too warm but wow this is a great beer. It seems to me to be a cross between and old fashioned Best Bitter and a modern Mid Atlantic Pale Ale. I've tried a few beer that have attempted this combination of styles but none have been as brilliantly good as "The Wife".

Sat opposite the fire place. Great pub this.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale3.90GoodMaybe this was just very fresh but the grapefruit hop was very pronounced and drowned out the other flavours I usually find in this fantastic beer. Still very good (and in excellent condition). I hope the recipe hasn't been changed!!!

We somehow managed to upset the barman in here, not entirely sure how it happened but we decided it best we make a swift exit.
