The existing tenants are planning to leave by the end of the year, and the pub has been put up for sale. I got the impression that the For Sale sign has been bad for business as I was the only customer.

Fairly quiet, but I was surprised to see that every customer was a member of Camra, including one former National Executive member. We sat and read the lists of ingredients on some bottled beers that one of them had just purchased from a local supermarket - well all I can say is that I won't be buying any.

A quiet Tuesday afternoon. I sat and enjoyed my pint until the other customer shattered the peace by playing loud rock music on the juke box.

Early afternoon, a few customers at the bar. The music was being played a bit too loudly for my liking. I had time for a quick pint and a half before catching the bus to The Pheasant.

I sat at the bar as the only one in and listened to the jukebox on random. Pleasant enough pub and very pleasant greeting from the staff. Homemade Cornish Pastie for £3.50.

Shepherd Neame - Late Red4.50GoodReminds me of the amber beer to an extent. Still lovely hop but reminds me of something Danish, I think, but can't remember. Something like Mikkeller but don't know which. Good though and had 2 very enjoyable pints this evening. Decent price in centre of town too.

3 people in, but the jukebox is good and it was mid afternoon on a Saturday when people had better things to do than be in a pub.

New landlords arrived not too many weeks ago. The place has had a bit of a face lift both inside and outside, but essentially it is the same pub. Jam sessions on Sundays from 4pm for musicians.

Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70AcceptableI was a little sceptical with this as when I ordered it, the barman disappeared out the back. But the pint was fine. Drinkable bitter that slipped down easily on a hot and humid evening. Friendly barman too.

I got a call from my next door neighbour that a jazz singer was playing here and did I want to go. So I hurried back from Folkestone, got changed and we went out about 9pm. The singer/piano player was brilliant and the pub fell silent for each song. Another good place now there is no smoking.

Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70GoodIt did actually have some decent hop on the finish and I would have been happy to drink this all night.

Popped in for a pint hoping Late Red would be on. Imagine my disappointment when NEITHER the Late Red nor the Master Brew were on (both pump clips turned round). So I had a bottle of the 1698 Shepherd Neame strong ale. Nice enough, but not what I wanted.
