Lunchtime between trains. This is now a Craft Union pub and is attracting price conscious customers. In spite of COVID restrictions a chap came and sat at our table telling us that he normally goes to the Wetherspoons opposite but they had re-introduced queuing, so he was in here instead. It was interesting to read Dosser's review of the Spoons later.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30AcceptableA round of one and a half pints came to three pounds twenty five pence, but I would rather have paid a bit more for a better pint.

Late afternoon ahead of a train to London. Pub sparsely populated, but some sort of argument going on and darkening the atmosphere.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Black Sheep - Monty Python's Flying Circus4.50AcceptableDescribed on the clip as an ‘IPA’ but is in fact a slightly fruity but rather bland Bitter.

I just missed my London train from Hastings and had 55 minutes to break down – this seemed the obvious place to go.

I too have not been in here for a great many years – maybe 32 years in my case. In fact, this could well be my first pint in here of legal drinking age. Good to see the tiling is all still in place. And I note that the gents toilets have moved (I have a good memory for a pub toilet).

Dark Star - Hophead (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.80ExcellentReally excellent, pale hoppy pint. On great form.

My first visit here for very many years, I used to come here in the 1970s but the pub stopped selling real ale and became somewhat uninviting. This was a lunchtime visit and the bar staff made us extremely welcome and informed us of the history behind the tile work which was originally part of a snicket alongside the pub with serving hatches in the pub wall with the mosaic flooring along the wall is part of the original alley. I was given a loyalty card so I look forward to returning for a few more beers and earning my free pint.
