It was a bit windy but also sunny - perhaps the last good day of the year weather wise. We sat out in the very busy beach garden.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | This was really good. The yeast and malt were excellent. Really rich body. |
Shepherd Neame - Late Red | 4.50 | Not Tried
Shepherd Neame - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale | 4.00 | Not Tried

Very busy both inside and outside on their allocated section of beach but wished to visit again having fond memories of it some 8 years ago when last visited Whitstable for a week. Managed to squeeze in and even find a seat. It was just as I remember it!
Shepherd Neame - The Faversham Steam Brewery - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale | 3.90 | | Came with a fine head and lacing. Sweet, malty mouthfeel with a good hoppy aftertaste and certainly ready for it after my walk from the Tankerton Arms. |
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried
Shepherd Neame - Go for Gold | 3.40 | Not Tried

Afternoon visit and very busy both inside and the beach area. My friend suggested that we return on a cold blustery horrible day in mid-winter when there may be not so many DFLs about.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Very good Harvey's. |
30 Jun 2017 (ChrisE)
Busy but fortunately most people were outside drinking out of plastic containers so we sat in the comfort of the bar drinking out of real glassware with Harvey's branding. Definitely one of Whitstable's better pubs.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Superb Harveys. |
Shepherd Neame - The Faversham Steam Brewery - Whitstable Bay Red IPA | 4.50 | Not Tried
13 May 2015 (Jack William)
Location, location, location - one of the few pubs in the country actually on the beach. Early evening - a good few drinkers enjoying the evening sun.
Shepherd Neame - The Faversham Steam Brewery - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale | 3.90
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | a bit stale |
29 Jan 2014 (ChrisE)
This is now a Shepherd Neame pub, but the landlord has been allowed to keep Harveys which was a regular beer before Sheps purchased the pub from Enterprise Inns. It was a wet and miserable day outside, but warm and welcoming inside, actually a tad too warm, we sat by the window and admired the sea views.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Shepherd Neame - The Faversham Steam Brewery - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale | 3.90 | Not Tried

12:30 Eight others in. Very pleasant looking over the sea on a sunny day.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Started well but towards the end had a hop oil taste. |
Shepherd Neame - Late Red | 4.50 | Not Tried

18:00 visit. Again, couple of years since we were last here, and fairly quiet, more pleasant than the uusal weekend crush in some of these pubs. Ales were ok though. I liked the sloping bar, an effect like the Manchester Marble sloping floor!
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | We all thought this was in top condition again. |
Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale) | 4.20 | | The other two thought this was very good. |
Shepherd Neame - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale | 3.90 | | The ale of choice when in this town! Fair to good. |

I've never been here before (if you don't count the time Ian and walked in, spotted a long queue at the bar and only GK-IPA on, and walked straight out). Nice pub. Lots of wood and seaside character. We sat in the 'garden' (i.e. part of the beach) out the back and enjoyed the unseasonable weather and views to the Essex coast.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Served cold and with the odd floater in it but it was nice and refreshing and tasted of Harveys. |
Wadworth - Henry's Original IPA | 3.60 | Not Tried

Here to see a band. Really good crowd in here tonight, very eclectic mix of people. I love this place, it's incredibly quirky. I really needed a good pint of beer so I left to get the train to ramsgate at about 10.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Not as good as it should be, but it was a lot better than I expected of a beer from this place. Malty and yeasty with an ever so slight whiff of vinegar, but the 2nd pint onwards didn't have the vinegary whiff. |
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
