Visits Details

01 Feb 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Mid evening visit, soon found myself on volunteer bar duty. If anything numbers down a tad, maybe affected by weather warnings true or false. I was impressed to see the Caveman beers correctly labelled as brewed outside of Kent and also by the cider bar notice stating that the ciders were real according to the CAMRA definition - as confirmed by the various makers.

White Cliffs Festival of Winter Ales. 26th anniversary of this winter festival held in the atmospheric Maison Dieu Town Hall. A 2 day (Friday and Saturday) festival with 70 or so beers which are all winter and strong ales on gravity, all 5.0% abv or higher, at a flat rate £1.75 per half and £3.50 per pint (the first price rise for a few years now). A Dover tradition. This year the logo celebrates the Dover Patrol for its role in two World Wars.

We have visited this pub once, seen 71 different beers and tried 8 of them.
