Tasting Summary
These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Martin the Mildman | | 28 Jun 2012 | Brown smoked porter with good malt character and a smooth well rounded mouthfeel. Gentle smokiness in the finish. My score 16/20 with B for quality as served too warm. |

Stephen Harris | | 26 Jun 2012 | I had a bottle-conditioned version of this porter. It is black, with a tight, tan head. Smoky aroma. There are sweet malts and liquorice, but the overriding flavour is a woody, winey, smokiness. If I was told it had been aged in a wooden barrel I would have believed it – but apparently it hasn’t. This has the makings of a truly great beer. |
