We came here because the Red Lion at Snargate is very temporarily closed owing to self isolating. A few familiar faces from Snargate were at the bar when we arrived. Our enjoyment was spoilt by one customer who arrived later and sat on a stool at one end of the bar and engaged in very loud conversation with someone at the other end making it impossible to order a drink without standing between them. I looked at the food menu and noted that a jacket potato with cheese was a mere £8.

Doing well for a Monday evening. A good welcome from the people behind the bar and I envied the Friary Ales water jug.

Popped in for a swift one late afternoon and it was faily busy. Many of the tables were laid up for food and if it hadn't just rained we'd have probably sat out on one of the many benches out the front
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brains - Hancock's HB3.60AcceptableA brown bitter that tasted slighly syrupy with a hoppy twang

Red brick square building next to church at one end of main road through Appledore (pretty village with plenty of period properties) L shaped interior with bar on left and restaurant on right. Up to 4 real ales. Good, plentiful food with fish specials. Sat out at the front can be most pleasant on a summers day/evening
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brains - Hancock's HB3.60AcceptableMid brown colour. Piney hops on nose, ok in mouth, some good citrus acids, bitter finish.
