Nice afternoon. 2 beers on.
Attwell's - Bitter Sweet Mosaic | 3.90 | Not Tried
21 Feb 2015 (Vacuous )
Afternoon visit. Comfortably busy. Service a tad surly for the price I thought
Westerham - Spirit of Kent XXX Pale Ale | 4.00 | | Slightly hazy with a floater evident, but tasty enough with a nice balance between malt and hops |
Wantsum - More's Head (previously 3.4% & 3.5%) | 3.70 | Not Tried
07 Sep 2013 (HSB)
15:00 Fairly quiet, just two or three locals in. That said a good atmosphere to the place, I was taken with the unusual mix of furniture. My son drew my attention to the unusual "dragon" beam in the ceiling.
Wantsum - Imperium | 4.00
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | Not Tried
11 Mar 2011 (Trevor)
Fairly crowded when I went with my wife for a lunchtime snack following a visit to the dentist. There weren't many seats available but we found one on the settee in front of a most welcome log fire.
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
29 Aug 2010 (Alenomore)
Decent and trendy type place.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | So surprised to find this solitary ale on from my favourite brewer? |
05 Jul 2008 (Brian)
Virtually empty, but it was after lunch time and before the evening trade. The pub is relatively small, with a main front room and a small area back towards the bar. I quite liked it.
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50 | | I liked the pub but the beer selection was predictable and the quality poor. The staff were very friendly and I thought it would be a good place to drink Strongbow in (no, I really do like Strongbow). This stuff was watery, brown, tasteless nonsense with a few floaters. |
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
08 Jul 2006 (Andrew)
Only a few people in but it still felt quite busy, probably due to the cramped nature of the interior. I liked the cauldron on the fire place.
Greene King - Ruddles County | 4.30 | | Cloying malt and overt alcohol with a bit of apple taste |
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried

Corner pub near the river (a Greene King house), opposite both the Bell Hotel (Courage Directors) and the Crispin Inn (Adnams Bitter and Broadside). Smallish bar at rear of main room. White walls and exposed wooden beams. Wooden furniture. It was a late Saturday afternoon with some locals at the bar and the odd tourist couple.
Greene King - Ruddles County | 4.30 | | Deep brown with thin disappearing white head. Apple, caramel and some yeast aroma. Bit tart in mouth with apple blossom perfumed apple fruit finish. Not how I remember it in the dim and distant days of my youth. |
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried
