Last stop before Ian and I parted ways. Very quiet but then I don't know how people find out it's here.

Just after noon - a few early diners in. Good sanctuary from the shops.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Hayburner4.20AcceptableFirst pint poured of the day I suspect and just a hint of staleness. Pump clip claimed pine aroma - but I couldn't discern that. Fairly ordinary. Pump clip included the additional name "Hoppy Little Warrior"

Jane and I had a night out in Canterbury. Canterbury at 6pm is an odd mix of tourist stragglers and weird locals. Off the beaten track its just weird locals. The pub was fairly busy and highlights of the days football was on the tele.

Very quiet. Welcome was good but that's as good as it got. We tried a couple of Marston's ales and, regrettably, chose this one. Considering the name over the door, Michael Caine, Chef and proprietor of high renown, it was extremely disappointing to drink a Marston's ale of such poor quality. Needless to say we didn't finish our drinks and when we took our glasses back to the bar to complain there was no one there. So we left.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marston's - Ugly Sisters4.50UndrinkableFlat. Dead. Metallic taste. Not recommended.

Dining area and garden area full, but inside the pub seating area it was quiet with the Olympics on TV.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wantsum - Black Prince3.90ExcellentAll set to get this at the SE SIBA festival, glad to catch up with it here. A dark brown mild with a toasty malt character and some fruit in the finish. My score 16/20.
Wantsum - One Hop Willamette4.50ExcellentAmazingly smooth tasting beer with a luscious fruity hop character with citrus notes. Restores my faith in Wantsum after one or two ropey beers. My score 16/20.
Marston's - Marynka4.00Not TriedUnfortunately finished before I got to it.
