5 ish - I have cut down brambles and other stuff to keep the cycle route clear - time for a pint. A good few customers sprinkled around the bars and the sunny garden.
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00
Ripple Steam - Original Best Bitter | 4.10 | | So called "happy hour" with 50p off a pint. Just the £3.50 then.
Clear with a good head but tasted past its best. |

Mid Sat evening - empty in the bar, a few eaters in.
The prices here continue to amaze me £9.40 for a pint and a 175ml glass of Shiraz - we moved on to the Fordwich Arms next and saved a whopping £2.40 on the same drinks.

Just made it in time for 60p off a pint (before 1900) - but at their normal prices they are not exactly cutting their throats. Quite busy, good atmosphere.
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Cattle Shed | 4.50 | | Full flavoured APA with plenty of flowery hoppiness. I was surprised when I asked for a second that it had finished - good to the end then as well. |
Phoenix - Brunning & Price Original Bitter | 3.80 | | A bit cloying after the APA. |
Adnams - Ghost Ship | 4.50 | Not Tried
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Knight's Ale | 4.60 | Not Tried
17 Sep 2015 (Jack William)
Mid evening - a good few in - but this may well be my last visit for a while here: £9 for a pint and a medium glass of wine is just not on in East Kent I think.

I have always been very impressed with Brunning and Price pubs and came here because it is run by a sister company to that group. I am pleased to report to Jack William that our sandwiches were served up on plates. The chap behind the bar was extremely good and gave us decent sized tasters of two new beers that he put on whilst we were eating our food. He also told us that Brunning and Price have recently bought up a few more pubs in the South of England.
Phoenix - Brunning & Price Original Bitter | 3.80
