May bank hol Kent beer and cider festival. Great beer lineup featuring the new Kent breweries. Been an odd morning being involved in an RTA on my cycle and I think I am still in delayed shock but nothing will stop me from having a pint

Larkins - Traditional3.40GoodMy favourite 3.4% abv beer in the world. Surprisingly full in the mouth and bitter on the finish
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Sun Top3.60GoodVery light golden beer but in cracking condition. Mouthfeel is almost worth the beer in itself

Extremely busy, we sat in the right hand side bar as there was no room in the other one.

Tonbridge - Ebony Moon4.20ExceptionalWow, this was amazing. The landlord described it as a mild, but it was definitely a porter. A superb good quality dark full bodied beer.

First one in on Bank Holiday Monday and enjoyed sitting in this great locals pub sat at the bar and then in the garden with Henry, the landlord, chatting about pubs and beers. Really enjoyed myself.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Tonbridge - Blonde Ambition4.20GoodGold, very good hoppy beer, bitter and biting finish on end. Good start for new brewery
Westerham - British Bulldog Gold4.30AcceptableBit flat in condition maybe getting towards end of barrel, but an ok fruity bitter
Royal Tunbridge Wells - Royal Best Bitter4.10PoorGreen apple on aroma, malts are a bit unintegrated. Malts don't taste fully brewed out. No real hop presence. New brewery that needs a bit of work I think.

Presentation for runner up POTY for the local Camra branch plus start of the May Bank Holiday Kentish beers beer festival. Met up with a couple of work colleagues (thanks for the hotdog) and the local Camra guys for a good evening of beer, cider and banter.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goacher's - Crown Imperial Stout4.50ExcellentDon't know what they have done to the malts, but the last few times I've had this, it has been remarkable. Only beer I had twice.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 73.80GoodQuality session bitter.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Common Conspiracy4.80AcceptableJust a bit muddy I guess may have needed another half day settling, but very well made and good tasty flavours.
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Gold Top4.30AcceptableBetter than when I had it first time, ok golden ale.
Cottage - Mallard IPA4.10AcceptableAttractive rich brown colour. Disappearing head. Decent best bitter. Some dry and fruity malt. OK
30 Jan 2010 (Ian)
Stop number 6 on the cross Marsh trip. I sat in the public bar and enjoyed the Boxer dog and the chat of the locals.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Westerham - Grasshopper Kentish Bitter3.80ExcellentLovely bitter, good deep malts and very good hops on the finish.
Keltek - Arthur's Ale3.50AcceptableMid brown, slight haze. Lasting beige head. Sweetish aroma. Earthy. Odd but a bit tight, may need half a day to open up. Bit of peachy Belgian ester.
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood3.70Not Tried
Wychwood - January Sale3.80Not Tried

Really, this is a very good pub on a back street in Hythe. Friendly service, good range of beers and a very good feel to it, like you wished this was your local.
BeerABVScoreNotes
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Guzzler3.60AcceptableGold, slight haze. Hoppy aroma, that is a little soapy on the hops, but a decent blond beer.
Loddon - Hullabaloo4.20AcceptableLovely looking copper colour. Some biscuit and caramel on the aroma. OK bitter, some toffee in mouth.
Thwaites - Original Bitter3.60Not Tried
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood3.70Not Tried

Thursday early evening and a good number of regular customers in. Three tables in one bar were reserved for cribbage from 8pm which was good to see. I quite liked it and will come back
BeerABVScoreNotes
Westerham - Summer Perle3.80GoodOne of my favourites. Not quite as good as last year at The Chambers up the hill, but good biting citrus hops on end that dry and attack the gums on the end in a very pleasant manner.
Three Rivers - GMT3.80PoorAmber colour, thin beige head. Not a great tasting beer, bit of an earthy muddy aroma, some ok hop on finish. Bit unintegrated.
