May bank hol Kent beer and cider festival. Great beer lineup featuring the new Kent breweries. Been an odd morning being involved in an RTA on my cycle and I think I am still in delayed shock but nothing will stop me from having a pint
Goacher's - Crown Imperial Stout | 4.50 | | So drinkable |
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale | 3.90 | | I love the grassy citrus hops on thos beer |
Goacher's - Fine Light Ale | 3.70 | | Best half of this I have had in some time. Malt and orange fruit |
Larkins - Traditional | 3.40 | | My favourite 3.4% abv beer in the world. Surprisingly full in the mouth and bitter on the finish |
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Sun Top | 3.60 | | Very light golden beer but in cracking condition. Mouthfeel is almost worth the beer in itself |
Abigale - Samphire | 4.10 | | Yep fine just a little thin on the malts/mouthfeel. |
Whitstable - Winkle Picker | 4.50 | Not Tried
Westerham - British Bulldog Gold | 4.30 | Not Tried
Royal Tunbridge Wells - Royal Best Bitter | 4.10 | Not Tried
Kent - KGB or Kent Golding Bitter | 4.10 | Not Tried

Extremely busy, we sat in the right hand side bar as there was no room in the other one.
Tonbridge - Ebony Moon | 4.20 | | Wow, this was amazing. The landlord described it as a mild, but it was definitely a porter. A superb good quality dark full bodied beer. |
Whitstable - Native Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Wells Eagle IPA | 3.60 | Not Tried
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | Not Tried

First one in on Bank Holiday Monday and enjoyed sitting in this great locals pub sat at the bar and then in the garden with Henry, the landlord, chatting about pubs and beers. Really enjoyed myself.
Tonbridge - Blonde Ambition | 4.20 | | Gold, very good hoppy beer, bitter and biting finish on end. Good start for new brewery |
Westerham - British Bulldog Gold | 4.30 | | Bit flat in condition maybe getting towards end of barrel, but an ok fruity bitter |
Royal Tunbridge Wells - Royal Best Bitter | 4.10 | | Green apple on aroma, malts are a bit unintegrated. Malts don't taste fully brewed out. No real hop presence. New brewery that needs a bit of work I think. |

Presentation for runner up POTY for the local Camra branch plus start of the May Bank Holiday Kentish beers beer festival. Met up with a couple of work colleagues (thanks for the hotdog) and the local Camra guys for a good evening of beer, cider and banter.
Goacher's - Crown Imperial Stout | 4.50 | | Don't know what they have done to the malts, but the last few times I've had this, it has been remarkable. Only beer I had twice. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | | Quality session bitter. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Common Conspiracy | 4.80 | | Just a bit muddy I guess may have needed another half day settling, but very well made and good tasty flavours. |
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Gold Top | 4.30 | | Better than when I had it first time, ok golden ale. |
Cottage - Mallard IPA | 4.10 | | Attractive rich brown colour. Disappearing head. Decent best bitter. Some dry and fruity malt. OK |

Stop number 6 on the cross Marsh trip. I sat in the public bar and enjoyed the Boxer dog and the chat of the locals.
Westerham - Grasshopper Kentish Bitter | 3.80 | | Lovely bitter, good deep malts and very good hops on the finish. |
Keltek - Arthur's Ale | 3.50 | | Mid brown, slight haze. Lasting beige head. Sweetish aroma. Earthy. Odd but a bit tight, may need half a day to open up. Bit of peachy Belgian ester. |
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - January Sale | 3.80 | Not Tried

Really, this is a very good pub on a back street in Hythe. Friendly service, good range of beers and a very good feel to it, like you wished this was your local.
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Guzzler | 3.60 | | Gold, slight haze. Hoppy aroma, that is a little soapy on the hops, but a decent blond beer. |
Loddon - Hullabaloo | 4.20 | | Lovely looking copper colour. Some biscuit and caramel on the aroma. OK bitter, some toffee in mouth. |
Thwaites - Original Bitter | 3.60 | Not Tried
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried

Thursday early evening and a good number of regular customers in. Three tables in one bar were reserved for cribbage from 8pm which was good to see. I quite liked it and will come back
Westerham - Summer Perle | 3.80 | | One of my favourites. Not quite as good as last year at The Chambers up the hill, but good biting citrus hops on end that dry and attack the gums on the end in a very pleasant manner. |
Three Rivers - GMT | 3.80 | | Amber colour, thin beige head. Not a great tasting beer, bit of an earthy muddy aroma, some ok hop on finish. Bit unintegrated. |
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | Not Tried
Loddon - Hullabaloo | 4.20 | Not Tried
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
Whitstable - Pearl of Kent | 4.50 | Not Tried
