30 Jun 2017 (Jack William)
Arrived just before 5 for the beer festival. The village fete setting up opposite. A handful in the bar to start with but by 6 it was heaving inside and out with live music on the doorstep. Six beers on to start with and a further six to come on over the next two days.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.40ExcellentSpot on.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Summer's Day4.30ExcellentA fairly dark amber ale, full of flavour. Surprising name given the colour.
Skinner's (now brewed by Goodh) - Porthleven4.80ExcellentGood strong flavours, great condition.
Butcombe - Bitter (or Original Beer)4.00GoodVery pleasant.
Long Man - Long Blonde3.80AcceptableI usually really like this - but it tasted rather bland after the others.
Arbor Ales - Blue Sky Drinking4.40AcceptableOk - but didn't really grab me.
24 May 2017 (Jack William)
Early evening - my first English pint for more than 10 days. (Have been in Russia - but can't yet add my lone entry - waiting for Russia to be added as a country!) Lots of locals enjoying the sunshine.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Phipps NBC - Midsummer Meadow3.90ExcellentLovely - just suited the early evening sunshine perfectly.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dr Sunshine's Special Friendly English Wheat Ale4.20AcceptableEnd of the barrel.
07 May 2017 (Jack William)
Sunday evening 1850 - told off for arriving early while, the vacuuming was being done - but got served anyway. My first ever visit on a Sunday- didn't realise they had kept quaint opening times on the sabbath. Gradually filled up to about 15 in the next hour. Jolly banter.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Romney Marsh - Amber Ale4.20Good
Stonehenge - Sign of Spring4.60AcceptableBright green - bit flat unfortunately.
27 Apr 2017 (Jack William)
Last chance for an after-work drink here as I retire tomorrow. Friendly faces and good banter as usual. I consider myself a regular here - but not a local. My test is that you can only be a local if you can walk to the pub from your house - I intend to rectify that next month!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Easy Rider4.30GoodI'm getting a hint of peach and a good after-bite. The locals aren't keen on it but I like it.
Romney Marsh - Amber Ale4.20Good
27 Mar 2017 (Jack William)
Early evening - just the three of us but talk of advanced calculus and auctions of Victoria sponges accompanied our supping nonetheless.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dr Sunshine's Special Friendly English Wheat Ale4.20ExcellentTo match the evening sunlight streaming in through the open door.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 54.40Good
08 Feb 2017 (Jack William)
Beer o'clock swift one - ringing the changes again with the ale selection.

Early evening - pouring rain and the threat of snow doesn't deter me from getting a decent pint after a week away. One other hardy soul in. Blazing fire. Promise of some Gadd's ÜberHop in the cellar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Highlander4.80GoodWell balanced amber ale in good nick.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider4.30AcceptableNot at its best.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 54.40Not Tried

Beer o'clock - last day at work before xmas so had to have a pitstop here. Handful of regulars in, nice.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Little Cracker5.00ExcellentSo much better than the Robin - great depth and body.
Rockin Robin - Blizzard of Oz4.50AcceptableA fair "winter warmer" - but nothing special.
Orkney (Sinclair) - Red MacGregor4.00Not Tried
05 Dec 2016 (Jack William)
Monday beer o'clock (I like to vary it sometimes). A few in - we enjoyed the tasteless musical Santa-In-a- snowstorm bar display for nearly a minute. There is now a swearbox with a £1 fine for mentioning the 'B' work - "Breakwater". I fear that I have been partially responsible for this.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Skinner's (now brewed by Goodh) - Porthleven4.80ExcellentDelicious. Pale, zingy, fresh - as it says on the pump clip.
Long Man - Long Blonde3.80Good
