18 Nov 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Another visit by the Thursday evening mild drinkers. It would have been a quiet night here otherwise.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Mighty Oak - Oscar Wilde Mild3.70ExcellentSweet and full bodied with toffee and chocolate malt flavours. My score 16/20.
Brentwood - Marvellous Maple Mild3.70GoodFairly bitter for a mild, with some roasty malt bitterness and a little hoppiness in the finish. My score 15/20.
Naylor's - Fire Cracker4.30AcceptableGolden in colour with quite high bitterness from both malt and hop. Fairly dry, bitter finish. My score 14/20.
14 Aug 2010 (ChrisE)
I decided to spend an afternoon doing the pubs in Dartford as it is so easy to catch a fast train to Ebbsfleet and then the frequent bus from there to Dartford. The club was reasonably busy, and I had just settled down to my first pint when I had a telephone call from Jason to say that he was on a train to Ebbsfleet to have some beers in Chatham. We decided to meet up in Gravesend, so only time for a couple in here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wantsum - More's Head (previously 3.4% & 3.5%)3.70GoodA typical Wantsum beer, a little hazy but very enjoyable pint.

A pleasant lunch time session. I chatted with some locals at the adjacent table, and enjoyed one of the excellent value cheese baps with my pint. I have listed most, but not all, of the beers that were available.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Loddon - Kite Mild3.20Excellent
Rudgate - Jorvik Blonde3.80ExcellentI really enjoyed this.
RCH - Steam Spring4.60AcceptableI really did not like this. There was nothing wrong the way the beer was kept, but this was definitely not to my taste. One of the two gentlemen at the adjacent table liked it, whilst the other one thought it was horrible. I should have asked for a taster first.

Early evening visit and a decent crowd in ready for the live music. Just show your CAMRA or CIU card and your in? Not been here for some time and, as always, very impressed with the ale range.

25 Feb 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Another busy night with the London based mild drinkers visiting, guitar night and new member's evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Greenfield - Black Five4.00ExcellentSome say it's a dark bitter, I say it's a mild because it has a sweetish character, lowish hop rate and a good biscuity malt character with some liquorice and toffee evident. My score 16/20.
Titanic - Mild3.50GoodMalty black mild but also with a hint of bitterness, particularly in the finish. My score 15/20.
Lees (see also JW Lees) - Dark Side4.20GoodA new porter style beer from Lees. Dark brown in colour with a good mix of malt and hop flavours and a bitter finish. My score 15/20.
12 Nov 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
A visit here with the London based mild drinkers, so one or two dark beers sourced for us.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Rudgate - Ruby Mild4.40GoodIn good condition here but still a little too much hop bitterness for my liking in a mild. My score 15/20.
B&T (Banks & Taylor's) - Shefford Old Strong (SOS)5.00GoodStrong golden ale with a good sweetish hop and malt balance. My score 15/20.
Titanic - Last Porter Call4.90GoodBlack, roasty porter with quite a bitter finish. My score 15/20.
Falstaff - Pegasus4.10GoodSweetish golden ale with a good balance of malt and hop. My score 15/20.
15 Jul 2009 (Dubbel)
Invited along for the Everards Meet the Brewer event, which was most enjoyable and informative. The brewery reps made sure everyone's glass was replenished with complimentary ale and a table full of sarnies and pork pie segments was provided at the end. Bustling inside with a very orderly queuing system at the bar. Manager Nick is an extremely amiable and welcoming chap.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.40ExceptionalTip top condition. A sessionable delight.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Tiger4.20ExcellentThis beer is a joy when at its best. Caramalts push through a woody body. Oh so drinkable.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Golden Zest4.00ExcellentNew seasonal. Pale and hoppy with a very refreshing lemon peel edge. Perfect for summer supping.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Sunchaser4.00GoodThis went down well with both the male and female contingent alike. Light and airy with lager malt flavours. It's never been my favourite beer though, I must admit.
Leatherbritches - Goldings3.60GoodGood but nearing the end of the barrel by the time I got to it.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Beacon Hill (was Beacon)3.80AcceptableThis is a corking bright hoppy beer when served in top condition. Unfortunately this wasn't one of those times but still more than drinkable.
