A fleeting visit after a work meal out. Fleeting because I thought others were coming but it appeared to me they'd got the taxi home instead.

Early afternoon visit – just a couple of other customers present. What a great place. As a confirmed bookworm, I was so engrossed with the shelves of books and the pile that I had accumulated on my table that I nearly forgot to drink my beer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale3.40AcceptableVery dark, caramel-flavoured, hop-free mild. Not in the greatest condition here if truth be told.

Evening. Good chat and banter with some locals all of whom supported London football clubs. Seemed dingy and work in progress inside (probably always will too).

First visit here on my whistle stop of Broadstairs. I liked it. Stood chatting to Blair about beer Italy and gin The gin selection is amazing with Martin Millers the stand out so far

2nd visit after mulling over the first one. I concluded that the difficulty I had with the pub was its clutter and, to my mind, its disorganisation having nowhere to really stand at the bar nor any other clear focal point. This does not engender a peace of mind - it is a house style as I feel that way in the sister pub The Lifeboat too. Nevertheless a small bar emphasising local beers on gravity stillage is a welcome addition to Broadstairs's profile.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Gold Top4.30ExcellentMaybe my buds but not quite the finesse of the earlier pint

The pub is found in Broadstairs, Kent, CT10 1LX.

Formerly the Albion bookshop this is now converted to a pub. From the same stable as The Lifeboat in Margate. Real ales from handpump. When first opened this was served from gravity behind a trestle table bar by the stepped entrance but this was subsequently converted to an L-shaped rough plywood bar counter. In 2016 cask ale dispense was converted to handpumps. At the time of opening the venue remained a bookshop too with all books marked for sale. Drinking on several levels including a staircase up to the balcony. Now has 8 handpumps and large array of keg taps on a more formal fixed bar counter.

We have visited this pub 33 times, seen 55 different beers and tried 35 of them.
