A quiet Thursday lunchtime. Not very many people around so we sat inside as showers were forecast.
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40
Goacher's - Special House Ale | 3.80 | | Known as Shipwrecked here. |
Whitstable - Pearl of Kent | 4.50 | | My wife really enjoyed this one. |
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | Not Tried

Came for lunch. Arrived just before opening so we had a look at the creek. Very nice it was too. Surprisingly given the weather, the pub didn't get very busy which meant we had the garden more or less to ourselves.
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Excellent condition. Smoky! Coffee flavours and smooth. |
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | | Excellent condition. Melon and fruit cocktail. Hint of bubblegum. Nice nettle hop finish |
Goacher's - Special House Ale | 3.80 | | Touch of bread dough about it. Lot more like Goacher's Light than Dark. |
Whitstable - Pearl of Kent | 4.50 | | Lively. Good hop profile. |
Hopdaemon - Green Daemon | 5.00 | Not Tried

I had the day off so I came to Faversham. I sat out on the side of the creek with my pint of Mild, listening to Pink Floyd's "Animals" and watching the turns buzz each other. Ah, it doesn't get much better than that. At some point a chap started to mow the marsh on the other side of the creek using a push mower. Clearly he had a lot of time on his hands.
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Good condition and quite lively. Good coffee notes but no chocolate and quite low on the hopping for his Mild. |
Goacher's - Special House Ale | 3.80 | | Reasonable condition. Sharp, orangy, bit roasted too. |
Goacher's - Silver Star | 4.20 | | Excellent condition. Fruity and light with a kind of mild Goacher's Gold Star about it. |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried

Jane, Tony, Isabel and I drove over early lunchtime and found a nice spot in the garden under a tree. Within half an hour the garden was quite busy with walkers mainly. A good pub to start the day with.
Goacher's - Special House Ale | 3.80 | | Fresh and light. Easy drinking. More light than dark. |
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Good condition but a bit thin in the mouth. Plenty of coffee and hints of chocolate but needed a bit more body. |
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | Not Tried
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried

I'd read on the BBC's website that global warming was happening faster than expected so I thought I better go and enjoy Faversham marshes while there were still above the sea. I was first in the pub. I took my pint, sat on the steps overlooking the creek and listened to Talking Head's Once in a Lifetime. Does it get much better than that? Not really.
Goacher's - Special House Ale | 3.80 | | Judging by the angle of the barrel this was near the end. It had a high degree of carbonation but once that past I was left with a resinous, slightly 1 dimensional representation of a usually great beer. |
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | Not Tried
Goacher's - Best Dark Ale (aka Original) | 4.10 | Not Tried
Goacher's - Crown Imperial Stout | 4.50 | Not Tried
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried

I love this pub. We sat in the garden (where Isabel slept like an angel) and I just stared across the reed-beds and pastoral marsh fields towards Faversham town. The clouds were high and billowing with warm sunlight streaming through for long periods. The creek was at half tide and the views across to Sheppy were lovely. And on top of that the beer line-up was great.
Goacher's - Special House Ale | 3.80 | | Badged as "Shipwrecked". Perhaps not in great condition (bit of marmite on the aroma and in the mouth) but there was a good dose of Goacher's Dark in this that made it pleasurable. |
Goacher's - Silver Star | 4.20 | | Like buses, I don't see this for 6 months and then 2 come along at the same time. In fantasitc condition. Light and refreshing with a good lemony hop finish. There's no real body to this though and I was left feeling I'd just drunk a german lager. |
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | Not Tried
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | Not Tried | Jane had this and it tasted excellent (...if a little unnervingly like Goachers Light) |
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried

A blazing log fire with excellent pub grub to boot. I can recommend the Steak pie. There were a small crowd of locals, together with a friendly Pointer (Henry) in attendance. Henry being very friendly if he felt food might be on offer!!!!
Goacher's - Special House Ale | 3.80 | | Excellent balance of hops and malt. Very well kept and the forth pint tasted as good as the first! |

Turned up at about 2pm and it was very busy but being such a nice day we sat out the front. After a while we got a seat inside and ordered some food. Excellent pub with friendly staff and a fantastic line-up of local beers.
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Fresh with bitter coffee and hints of cocoa powder. |
Goacher's - Best Dark Ale (aka Original) | 4.10 | | Toasted nutty malt with a good toasted malt bite on the finish. |
Goacher's - Special House Ale | 3.80 | | Badged as "Shipwrecked" this had lots of Goacher's Dark giving it excellent body and a malty, earthy hop finish. Hints of staw and orange peel present too. |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried

We were the first people in that evening so we could sit where we liked. What a lovely interior it is with lots of snugs and compartments.
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | | Mandarin and lychee flavours followed by a bitter elderflower bite. Shame most other pubs have Incubus rather than this! |
Goacher's - Special House Ale | 3.80 | | Good and hoppy with a bitter finish and a creamy lingering mouth feel. I detected a slight peaty taste. |
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | | Mandarin and lemon zing with a deep base lemon hop finish. Astringent but "pour it back" drinkable. |
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Good bitter bite to it with a clean peaty coffee taste with a burnt coffee finish. Judging by the angle of the barrel on the stillage this had only been tapped recently. Give it a day or 2 and it will be perfect. |
Goacher's - Best Dark Ale (aka Original) | 4.10 | | Same peaty over-flavour as the Special. Subtle toasted caramel on finish. Umm... no Goacher's signiture taste of malt and progress hops. My guess is this barrel had only just been tapped so hadn't mellowed yet. |
