12 Aug 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Mid-evening visit after work. I’m shunning the many beer events taking place all over London tonight.
Tap East - Bad Co. Madeira Aged Bourbon Brown | 7.40 | | A version of this beer that has been matured in Madeira barrels and it is even more lovely than the Whisky barrel version I tried before. Exceptionally lovely in fact. |
Oakham - Citra | 4.20 | | Absolutely gorgeous. |
Tap East - JPB (Jonny Park Bitter) | 4.00 | Not Tried
Tap East - Atom Red Ale | 4.30 | Not Tried

04 Aug 2015 (Stephen Harris)
There has been over the weekend a festival of beers brewed here in collaboration with various Yorkshire brewers. Technically it is now over, but I’m pleased to find a few beers still available.
Tap East - Ghost Brewing White Rose | 5.00 | | An interesting golden beer brewed with an addition of rose water. |
Tap East - Bad Co. Madeira Aged Bourbon Brown | 7.40 | | Strong, dark, aged beer with more barrel in the taste than most. Very bitter aftertaste, although had apparently been a bit smoother higher up the barrel. |
Tap East - Northern Monk Ardennes Stout | 6.50 | | A dark, sweet and warming Stout. |
Tap East - Atom Red Ale | 4.30 | | A deep red/brown. Excessively sweet to my taste. |
Tap East - Wharfebank Hopfenweisse | 6.50 | | Murky old gold in colour. Strong, wheaty and hopped. Might be better slightly chilled and lightly carbonated. |
Rooster's - Fort Smith | 5.00 | Not Tried
21 Jul 2015 (Stephen Harris)
After 9pm, following a too-long day at the office. Desperately trying to remember the other characters present in case one was Mr Pirrip. But all I can recall is greying, fully-grown chaps who looked like they are not-unfamiliar with the insides of licensed premises. No fresh-faced early-1800s Dickensian characters at all – seems we must have missed each other. Other beers as already listed (except JPB which had been replaced).
Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | | Light, hop-filled and very tasty. |
Tap East - A.P.A. (American Pale Ale) | 4.30 | | Hop-headed loveliness. I’m off to Scotland shortly, where the noxious weed is barely known, so loading up on hops for the journey. |
21 Jul 2015 (Philip Pirrip)

11 Jul 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Late-ish evening session.

04 Jul 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Evening session after a long day out in Essex.
Track - Zojl | 5.80 | | A fabulously fresh, jet black, Black IPA. Tastes like liquorice that has been marinated in hop juice. |
Brighton Bier - Dealer’s Choice X-Pale/Citra/Galaxy | 5.10 | | A beer name that pretty much serves as its own description. It is of course very well-hopped, and very pale in colour. Right up my street. |
Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried
Tap East - IPA | 6.00 | Not Tried
Tap East - Summer Blonde | 4.50 | Not Tried
Squawk - Oatmeal Pale | 4.40 | Not Tried
21 Jun 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Winding down at the end of a really enjoyable weekend.
Tap East - A.P.A. (American Pale Ale) | 4.30 | | Always excellent, fruity, US-style Pale Ale. |
Bad Seed - Summer Ale | 3.80 | | Pale gold and hazy (the latter becoming almost the norm these days for micro/craft brewery beers as more and more breweries shun filtration and fining). Sharp and refreshing, possibly in the Blonde style – but a touch too yeasty. |
Brewster's - Marquis Bitter | 3.80 | Not Tried
Dark Star - Original | 5.00 | Not Tried
Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried
Tap East - Chocolate Mild | 3.50 | Not Tried
14 Jun 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Sunday evening comfy chair situation, after a day in the wilds of Essex.
Ilkley - Siberia | 5.90 | | Absolutely my favourite Rhubarb Saison in the whole wide world. |
Brighton Bier - Red Dog (was 4.4%) | 4.50 | | Reddish-brown in colour. Bitter, not sweet. |
Oakham - Preacher | 4.30 | Not Tried
Tap East - JWB (Jim Wilson Bitter) | 3.80 | Not Tried
Tap East - A.P.A. (American Pale Ale) | 4.30 | Not Tried
