Last stop on our crawl, mainly because we had 20 minutes to kill before our train.

5th and final stop on our mini crawl of Canterbury. You can generally really on wetherspoons to have at least one interesting beer available, tonight was no exception. Really busy, we managed to nab the last table left. Not bad for a wednesday...
BeerABVScoreNotes
Oakham - Taipan4.90ExcellentTypical Oakham beer, very hoppy and refreshing. One of my favourite brewers, great stuff.
Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Red Molly3.80Not Tried
26 Mar 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Breakfasted with Ian and chatted about JDW festival and local pubs. My impression here was of a well run establishment, some beers on stillage including some Whitstables. Food was of above average quality for a Spoons too. Regrettably a return visit to try more beers that I had left found two of them had gone.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Otter - Hoppy Otter3.90GoodA bitter hop flavour dominates with little malt balance and a dry, powdery finish. My score 14/20.
Robinsons - Ginger Tom4.30AcceptableBarely perceptible ginger flavour, just the usual peppery, dry and malty Robbie's taste. My score 14/20.

Located just in North Lane. Quite substantial floor space and nooks and crannies to drink in. This Wetherspoon pub takes its name from its proximity to Canterbury's West Gate, one of the finest medieval gateways in Britain. This is a Grade II listed building, and dates from the 17th century. Over the years, it has been modified and rebuilt, and has lost much of its timber frame and original features.

We have visited this pub 80 times, seen 161 different beers and tried 90 of them.
