Not many people but all were eating and the barmaid seemed to be doing everything front of house including operating what seemed a very complicated touch screen till (or so it seemed given the amount of time simple transactions took). Food was very nice and the service was given with a cheery smile.

A warm welcome, and a good chat with the landlady about beer, and pubs in general. A splendid pub which always has four ales available. Unfortunately I forgot to make a note of the other beer that was on offer today, but I think it was from Rother Valley.

Quietly busy on a snowy Saturday lunchtime.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Larkins - Traditional3.40ExceptionalI came in the hope of finding Larkins Porter, but this banished any disappointment in its non appearance:satisfyingly hoppy, with a seasonal fruitiness. Probably my favourite "brown" bitter.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.40ExceptionalThis is a great beer-it's not dark,it's not chocolately, but I love it!
Whitstable - Christmas Pudding4.60AcceptableThe barmaid kindly gave me a taster of this.I'd hoped for a dark , rich, spicy confection, just like its namesake. Unfortunately, it was mid-brown and cloyingly sweet.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00Not TriedA pub that forces me to pass Harveys by:thats praise indeed!

Came here at lunch time for Jane's birthday. The staff were very friendly and the pub's interior was fantasitic. I shall definitely be back
