1648 - Cruella4.30ExcellentA dark IPA style beer, huge amounts of citrus hop and some malt flavours too. Very full flavoured. My score 16/20.
Tap East - Nut Brown Ale3.40GoodA weaker version of the nut brown, which was actually more amber in colour. Quite bitter with a little citrus hop character. An interesting beer but not really a nut brown. My score 15/20.
25 Jan 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Jam-packed full in the little bar and the little heated-terrace outside.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Arbor Ales - Junga6.50ExcellentAnother single-varietal hop beer from Arbor. Not a hop I’d heard of before either. Pale gold in colour and noticeably high alcohol. Oily, citrusy hop.
Oakham - Preacher4.30GoodAn amber bitter, very much in the Oakham style. Quite hoppy.
Oldershaw - Mowbray's Mash3.70Not Tried
Oldershaw - Blonde Volupta5.00Not Tried

BeerABVScoreNotes
Arbor Ales - Single Hop - Newport4.00GoodVery pale in colour with sweetish citrus hop flavours leading to a dry, bitter finish. The hop character is probably of Eastern European origin. My score 15/20.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Oakham - Baby Belma4.00GoodPale bitter brewed with a new and exclusive hop variety. Very hoppy with a citrus bite leaving a dry, citrus aftertaste. My score 15/20.

Full of young people enjoying good ale. Damn it-I'm middle aged and I love good beer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Winter Meltdown5.00ExcellentA good complex amber ale to finish off the afternoon's entertainment.
Titanic - Engine Room4.60GoodQuite a heavy pale 'n'hoppy, but not firing on all cylinders I'm afraid.
Inveralmond - Independence3.80Not Tried

Tail end of Cornish beer festival with a few still available outside.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Driftwood Spars - Dêk Hop3.80AcceptablePale but rather bitter and unbalanced with a slightly phenolic taste. My score 12/20.
Driftwood Spars - Red Mission4.00AcceptableDark amber coloured brew with a predominately bitter flavour leading to a very dry, astringent finish. My score 13/20.

I had been to the Cask and Kitchen and heard that there was an IPA festival on here. As well as the three hand pumps on the bar there were 10 firkins in the courtyard.

Fourth pub of crawl. Things finally looking up, great beer at proper temperature. Was hard to move on from here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.40Exceptional
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - California5.30ExceptionalThis was so much better than at the Dean Swift earlier, and all because of the serving temperature.

The pub is found in Southwark, Central London, SE1 9AG.

Small pub on the north side of Borough Market run by the same people who own the Utobeer bottled beer stall in the market itself. The bar has 3 hand pulls serving UK cask beers and 6 taps supplying continental and world beers. An extensive bottle beer selection is also available from the fridges behind the bar. The bar has stripped wood floors, pale beige walls and a historic Pilkington glass ceiling. A decked patio provides extra space and seating. Definitely an excellent addition to the Southwark beer scene.

We have visited this pub 151 times, seen 348 different beers and tried 249 of them.
