Sunday lunchtime cycle group meet. We sat in the main bar with a welcome wood-burning stove on the go. Nicely busy. The beers are better kept and a reasonable choice since the make-over earlier this year. Joined by a couple of hard-core cyclists (both in their sixties) who had ridden from the tip of South America to Austin, Texas earlier this year. They still had a good thirst on them.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | In top form. |
| Hogs Back - The Hero IPA | 4.00 | | Help for Heroes contribution. Good condition but not memorable. |
| Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
14 Sep 2025 (Jack William)
Lunchtime cycle group meet. We sat in the garden on fairly new picnic tables and chilled out, literally. The interior has been altered since my last visit with a second bar in the restaurant area. Friendly service and good to see a slightly better ale selection.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Nice condition. |
| Marston's - Wainwright Rambler | 4.00 | | Badged as “New Limited Edition” on the pump clip. An amber ale with good bitterness hit. |
| Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
12 Dec 2024 (ChrisatSturry)
Fairly busy, not many diners, bar staff very friendly.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Malty which distinctive Harvey flavour |
| Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Bah Humbug! (superseded by 4.3% version) | 4.80 | | Very malty, very bitter without being hoppy, no spices, Bah Humbug. |
10 Nov 2024 (ChrisatSturry)
Busy because of Rememberance Sunday. Friendly service.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | In good condition, biscuits. |
| Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Hobgoblin Ruby Beer | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
08 Sep 2024 (ChrisatSturry)
Not busy, friendly service, too wet to use the garden.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Distinctive flavour of Harvey's good balance of hop and malt |

11 Feb 2024 (Jack William)
Cycle meet, early Sunday lunchtime. The pub is still struggling with consistency for its real ale offerings. Shame as this is a very convivial venue for us. Jolly time sat around in the main bar area. Diners well separated from the drinkers in the two other rooms.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Fresh barrel, thankfully a decent pint. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | | A bit sour, first one out. Was taken off shortly after. |
| Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried | Also taken off before 1 |
22 Oct 2023 (Jack William)
Lunchtime cycle meet. 9 of us in the main bar. Not very busy. Disappointing ale choice - and both ales were taken off as we supped.
| Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | | Not at its best. End of barrel. |
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Getting to the end of the barrel. Flat. A fresh barrel was put on later after a sludgy pint was sent back. |
27 Nov 2022 (Jack William)
Wet ride for a Sunday lunchtime visit. The main bar areas were crowded with many twenty-somethings, good to see. My cycling buddy and I had a cosy alcove near the log burner and enjoyed our pints.
| Hogs Back - Three Hogs | 4.50 | | 4.0% version. A nod towards the alcohol intolerance of the Qatar World Cup? |
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
05 May 2022 (Jack William)

| Exmoor (now brewed by Hogs Back) - Fox | 4.20 | | New one on me - very drinkable. |
