6pm on a Sunday evening and the service seemed oddly reluctant. Both beer and food were poor and the pub was noticeably grubby. Not a great experience.
BeerABVScoreNotes
East London (ELB) - Orchid Mild3.60PoorYuk. How have they managed to get it tasting like this? I should have returned this to the bar really.

Early lunchtime before other pubs in the area are open. We are a mixed group of Leyton Orient and Notts County supporters meeting for beers before heading off to our respective matches.

With several friends in the early afternoon for a rather sombre pre-funeral pint. I did not note all the available beers.

Oakham - JHB3.80AcceptableNot on best form.

Here for a late lunch at around 4:30. The pub is busy. I have still not quite adjusted to the fact that Wetherspoon’s no longer sell a Sunday roast on a Sunday.

In here for a quick mid-afternoon, pre-lunch pint, having found the Red Lion closed and the North Star full to bursting point. Lots of paper hats and wobbly legs in here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Sambrook's - Brown Dog Riot4.50ExcellentA fine US-style Brown Ale, with good hop flavours on a sweetish base. Just the job.

Early lunch here on a day off from work. Plenty of lunchers; the group of four retired folk on the next table tell me they have a weekly lunch at a different London Wetherspoon – always ham, egg and chips.

Early evening and there are lots of people taking advantage of reduced ‘Monday Club’ food and beer prices.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marston's - Revisionist Ruby Liquorice Smoked Beer3.60GoodA slightly disconcerting combination of flavours in a chestnut-coloured beer. But it seems to work.
Portobello - Ginger Bread Beer4.40AcceptableNot sure if the fault lay with this particular half pint or with my taste buds – but I couldn’t taste any ginger.

Not as busy as the Red Lion across the road, but I gave up trying to get served in here at 6:30, coming back and trying again, successfully, at around 8pm.
