Came with Gareth, John and Ian (although Ian had been up guzzling the old the day before and was feeling rough and left after a bit). The pub opened at 4pm and there was already a queue at the door. The place was heaving within 30 mins of opening but Simon and Marie-Anne did a great job getting to everyone. Great pub, great landlords, great beer.

Social media had revealed that Goachers Brit Hop was going to be on. See, Social Media isn't all bad. Everyone was out in the back under a marquee, and very enjoyable it was too.

Simon (the brewer) said that they used East Kent goldings as the bittering hop and then the new experimental hop, named EX61 grown by Wye Hops Ltd in Harbledown near canterbury, as the late hop. EX61 was a bit weak in my opinion. Bit of white pepper, maybe some mustard. The locals thought it tasted like Watney's Red Barrel. |

Evening visit albeit with arrival 15 minutes before advertised closing time. Alas lights off, door locked. Later scrutiny of Facebook shows pub closed Monday to Thursday re-opening Friday. Sittingbourne failure number one.

Second visit here. Got quite busy but then it isn't very big. The main attraction for me was the Porter - a mix of Mild and Old (50:50) but with its own Goachers Pumpclip (which I was told was a "museum piece" from when Goachers brewed Porter, something they've not done for years).

Evening visit not even until a belated close as a group were playing repeat games of Ultimate Werewolf which I could not follow at all and continued after I had left. Most customers were drinking cans of murky fruity and milky looking stuff. Also had a one-third of wallet busting 11% Low Key Barrel Project The Saviour of the Broken, the Beaten, and the Damned.

First time I've ever been here. It's much smaller inside that it looks walking up to it. Great community feel with everyone talking to everyone.

Specially arranged opening at 1230 for our group of 7. The bar person was very attentive and she showed us a picture of a recent visitor, also from Canterbury, Justin Welby.

The pub is found in Sittingbourne, Kent, ME10 2JN.
First Micropub in Sittingbourne located on a street corner in Charlotte Street. Name reflects the significant historical importance of paper making to the area. Officially opened on Saturday 12th October 2013. The licensee is a lady who has always wanted to open a pub like pubs once were and has been very successful in achieving this. Premises were formerly a building contractor's office and prior to that various shop existences. Small square main bar with wall mounted high benches on all four sides and high tables to match. Table service from a gravity stillage cellar at the back. Unisex toilet. Decorated with enamel signs from old Kent breweries which have been lent by Goacher's Brewery from its vast collection and there is always a Goacher's beer on here. The very layout and size mean conversation is King, Queen, Prince and Princess. CAMRA Swale Branch Pub of the Year 2015, 2016, 2017 and again in 2025.
