This was on my To Do list for tonight but I was told in two other pubs that it was not open this evening so I decided not to make the effort.
05 Jun 2015 (Jack William)
Friday beer o'clock. Couple of others in - Pauline's son now running the show.
Nelson - Temeraire4.00AcceptableBit near the end of the barrel I suspect - but a good measure - oversized glass full to the rim.
Ripple Steam - Original Best Bitter4.10Not Tried
27 May 2015 (ChrisE)
A very welcoming place, there were four cask available but I did not make a note of them.
Mad Cat - Mild Disobedience4.00ExcellentVery enjoyable, I had three of these.
19 Mar 2015 (Jack William)
After work beer - only 2 others in - I enquired where Pauline was and very sadly was told that she passed away on Saturday and they were holding the fort temporarily. I had only met her a handful of times but she appeared to be a perfect landlay having resurrected this old pub in the micropub style and was still working part time (at Saga) as well as running the pub. 83 years old apparently, incredible. RIP. Bit shocked so only noted the one beer I tried.
Ripple Steam - Classic IPA4.50Good
19 Feb 2015 (Jack William)
early evening - handful in, nice welcome from the landlady, Pauline - a great memory for names and faces.
Nelson - Temptress4.00ExcellentCrisp and dry, but couldnt really discern the honey after taste promised by the tasting notes. Very nice beer all the same.

Evening. Quiet so great opportunity to speak to the landlady and a couple who used to drink regularly in the "old" Arlington and the New Mogul Inn in Nell's day. Whilst we sat and nattered all was frenetic outside with Eurotunnel lorries by the hundred passing by - presumably diverted to the Docks.
Milestone - Loxley Ale4.20ExcellentPerfectly and clear and in excellent nick
Nelson - Powder Monkey4.40Acceptable

Nelson - Loose Cannon4.30ExcellentLovely copper notes.
Hop Fuzz - Martello3.80ExcellentFresh, crisp session beer. Very nice.
Hop Fuzz - Advent4.20Acceptableonly a taster of this but not keen on the feint spiciest. Not much life.

19 Dec 2014 (ChrisE)
Afternoon, we found the place open but empty but we eventually located the landlady and sat down with some beer. I was pleased to meet Jack William from this site and we had a good chat about various pubs and people.

Nelson - Loose Cannon4.30Not TriedA fresh cask put on during our visit.
12 Dec 2014 (Jack William)
Friday lunchtime - 5 others plus the landlady - good conversations. Now serving in oversize glasses, good move.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 54.40ExcellentAnother very well kept ale - almost a regular here due to popular demand apparently.
Goddards - Scrumdiggity4.00ExcellentGood body, in excellent condition - is it just the season or did I get a hint of Xmas pud?
Ripple Steam - Original Best Bitter4.10GoodFine - but tasted rather thin after the other 2 ales on offer.
28 Nov 2014 (Jack William)

About The Arlington

Summary of Beer Scores

The pub is found in Dover, Kent, CT17 9BZ.

On Snargate Street in an area originally well pubbed in docklands. In living memory a small Fremlins pub called The Avenue (records show called Perseverance even earlier than that) then renamed The Arlington which converted later to being a Bistro (The Arlington West Bistro) which eventually closed. Now re-opened, after a complete redecoration, on Sunday 31st August 2014 as a Micropub with no bar counter and real ales and ciders served on gravity dispense from a temperature controlled cellar room. The room contains a single level stillage for up to 6 ale casks. Provision of meals at lunchtime is being considered.

We have visited this pub 14 times, seen 20 different beers and tried 14 of them.
