14 Dec 2024 (Hogan Sampling)
Situated right on the River Thames at the centre of Gravesend next to Gravesend Pier and so not surprisingly really very busy for visitors. Our group of 6 managed to find one of only a few tables in the main bar area on this mid-afternoon visit. All other tables were set aside for dining in rooms overlooking the river. Prompt, friendly service for my half here and only my third visit as I recall as exceptionally busy compared to other drinking holes locally.
Titsey - Leveson Buck | 3.70 | | Good head and lacing on this session IPA from Titsey Brewing at Tatsfield, Westerham, and on the Kent and Surrey border. It had a lightly fruity, hoppy mouthfeel with a dry aftertaste making it very moreish. Could easily have done more than one half! |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Black Pearl Oyster Stout | 6.20 | Not Tried
Nuttycombe - Snow Leopard | 4.90 | Not Tried
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - Ruby Simcoe | 4.50 | Not Tried
01 Dec 2018 (Magnus Greel)
Busy and boisterous mid evening mostly attracting younger folk - I sat at a table by the billiard table and didn't enjoy my beer.
Goody Ales - Bleangate Brewery - Genesis | 3.50 | | Insipid malty syrup - vile! Unsure if it's meant to taste like that hence one sip and the rest went down the sink in the Gents. |
Marston's - Wychwood Hobgoblin IPA (was Ruby Beer, was Hobgoblin) | 4.50 | Not Tried
Dorking - Red India Ale | 5.00 | Not Tried

15 Aug 2018 (Jack William)
Lunchtime visit as a drink stop on a cycle from Canterbury to Greenwich. A good few people in but not overly busy - I really liked the pub - good beer selection, reasonable prices a good estuary view from the first floor outside decked area - oh, and they have a bar billiards table!
Iron Pier - Rytes | 4.50 | | I don’t usually like flavoured beer - but the hint of ginger in this was fine. A very nice pint. |
Adnams - Broadside | 4.70 | Not Tried

St Austell - Proper Job | 4.50 | Not Tried

Evening. Mildly busy. Got in conversation with a fellow collecting branded beer glasses then a local CAMRA big wig told me local Draught Copy magazine will next be out at end of the week.
Ramsbury - Belapur IPA | 5.50 | | Chewy and distinctive |
Pig & Porter - Red Spider Rye | 4.80 | Not Tried
Bexley - BOB (Bexley's Own Beer) | 4.20 | Not Tried
Vale - Black Beauty Porter | 4.40 | Not Tried
Dorset Brewing Company - Alterego | 4.50 | Not Tried | A taster was too sweet for my palate but had immediate lips and roof of mouth bitterness. An alt bier |

Early lunchtime visit and not yet busy. I liked the feel of this pub; multi-roomed, and an astonishing slope to the floor in the main bar, and the great maritime photos and prints in the middle bar.
