Hogan Sampling		06 Sep 2025	This Cheshire ale from Stockport, south-east of Manchester and from a brewery dating back to 1838, presented very good head and lacing and lasting throughout. A very hoppy-infused first bite. A good fruity note or two leaping up. Bobek, Goldings and Cascade hops lending this deep golden ale a subtle hint of lemon but not that I overly detected it. A roasted maltiness rising. A fruity dryness drifting off in its finale. This ale launched in 2013 and the name, Trooper, is inspired by the Iron Maiden song which came from the famous 'Charge of the Light Brigade' which was both a disastrous historical event during the Crimean War and the famous 1854 poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson about it. This ale's name was refreshed in May 2024 when Trooper became 'Trooper Original'.
