Wednesday mid afternoon and busy with a few groups sat at the bar and family groups with well behaved children finishing off a late lunch. We sat in the sun trap beer garden on a cooler fresher day of late.
| Romney Marsh - Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Malty yeasty nutty cooking bitter. |
| Romney Marsh - Summer Pale | 4.00 | | Not sure what this is aiming to be, far too fruity for my palate with apple and strawberry flavours prevalent. |
08 Jul 2026 (Magnus Greel)
After a short hop double back using the one afternoon journey of route 11 from Wingham and stopping conveniently outside we made the most of our half hour stay and enjoyed the extensive shaded beer garden to relax and enjoy our pints. Fairly busy for a midweek afernoon which is good to see for this bucolic gem of a pub.
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Pardoner's Ale | 3.80 | | Barmaid pulled through a couple of pints which ensured my light pale ale, honey notes giving way to spicy, orange & citrus hops was served in top form. |
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - Kentish Best | 3.70 | Not Tried | |
20 May 2026 (Wittenden)
We came for a late lunch on a changeable Wednesday afternoon.
Several drinkers and diners in attendance.
| Dark Star - Hophead (was 3.8%) brewed by Fuller's | 3.40 | | Nostalgic citrus jobby. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | | Tired. |
18 Jun 2025 (Magnus Greel)
Mid afternoon and surprisingly busy with folk everywhere. Another superb friendly welcoming and relaxed boozer.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | | |
| Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
02 Oct 2023 (Magnus Greel)
Mid afternoon fairly quiet with a couple of groups finishing a late lunch. Friendly and welcoming it still had a cosy pub atmosphere despite the food emphasis.
| Cellar Head - Session Pale Ale | 3.80 | | |
| Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
| Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
12 Oct 2022 (Jack William)
Evening 8ish. Better than my last visit - same layout and still food centric - but I had 45 minutes to kill and enjoyed sitting by the fire in a comfy sofa and chilling over my half.
| Elgood's - Cambridge Gold | 3.90 | | Good condition but a bit soapy I thought. |
| Cellar Head - India Pale Ale | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
04 Jun 2017 (Andrew)
Been on a walk between Wickhambreaux and Ickham. The pub was busy mainly with diners.
| Westerham - Summer Perle | 3.80 | | Rich gold colour. Syrupy. White pepper hop bite. |
| Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
| Angels & Demons (now uses McCanns branding not its own) - Panama Jazz | 4.80 | Not Tried | |
18 Jul 2015 (Andrew)
Busyy both inside and out inthe garden. Nice view out over cornfields. Pricey.
| Moor - So'Hop | 4.10 | | Tasted of passion fruit and tutti frutti sweets. Very cloudy else I'd have scored it higher. |
| Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Rock Top | 4.10 | | Slightly sweet slightly tart brown bitter |
| Shepherd Neame - The Faversham Steam Brewery - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale | 3.90 | Not Tried | |
14 Jun 2015 (Jack William)
Sunday lunchtime for lunch - busy almost exclusively with diners - good food and polite but rather inattentive staff - very slow - at the bar and in serving lunch.
| Wantsum - Imperium | 4.00 | | A malty, but not very distinctive beer. |
| Shepherd Neame - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale | 3.90 | | |
| Moor - Raw | 4.30 | | Very tasty with strong citrus notes, unfined version and very cloudy. |
29 May 2007 (Andrew)
Popped in for a quick drink as I was in the area. The pub's been refurbished and feels much bigger and more open than before. I liked it although at £4.70 for a pint and a packet of crisps I won't be rushing back!
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Fresh, bitter and with that Harvey's yeastiness to it. Excellent |
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried | |
| Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale) | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
| Adnams - Southwold Bitter (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
