Reasonably busy Saturday afternoon, we enjoyed good ale accompanied by some very reasonably priced Thai food.

Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.40Goodwas fine a nive bitter but condition notquite there few floating bits tasted more than ok and a guy tried mine and ordered it but judging by others comments it was missing something and had a little yeast floating loose

This is a pub, on a boat! Really what's not to love? Surprisingly spacious interior including a stage for live bands. Very friendly and efficient staff and an electic mix of locals. We all fell in love with this place, may well be wrth the 3 hour drive to Peterborough to come here again.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Oakham - White Dwarf4.30ExcellentHoppy with lots of citrus, not as 'wheaty' as I was expecting, but a lovely beer.
Green Jack - Baltic Trader10.50ExcellentI just sent my dad up to the bar to get me a dark beer and this is what he brought back. Thick black beer, quite sweet and smoky but very pleasant. I got half way through before he let me know how strong it was, took my by surprise. Very good.

Great place sun was out people sitting in the autumn sun watching the world go from the garden I prefer the smaller area there to the brewery tap. Got to Whittlesey before i realised forgot camera but had spare batteries.

Broke up the long journey home from York with a planned stop here for a couple of beers and dinner at the East restaurant. Every bit as good as I remembered it from my last visit a couple of years ago. Fantastic beer selection and conditioning - and it's on a boat!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Oakham - Bishops Farewell4.60ExceptionalLiquid gold. Grapefruit sensation. Doesn't get much better than this.
Oakham - Inferno4.00ExcellentNever fails to amaze just how citrusy and potent-tasting this beer is. Top marks for refreshment and wow-factor. I just find the Bishops a little more refined.
Abbeydale - Smoked Porter4.40ExcellentDeep ruby, palate of smoked Bavarian cheese reminiscent of Springhead Leveller. More of a porteresque fullness of body though and yet more smoke on the finish. Lovely balance. Cements my high opinion of this fine midland brewery.
Oakham - Baja 10004.30ExcellentSeemingly something of an exclusive. Rust coloured, flavour-packed hop bomb in the traditional tasty Oakham style.
Oakham - Mompesson's Gold (superseded by 5.2% version - see separate entry)5.00GoodDispensed headless, so probably sub-prime. Still such a wonderful colour and bursting with layers of sweet and hoppy goodness.
Cathedral - Bishop's Tipple5.20GoodBig, fruity premium ale. Speckled hen in colour but, of course, with a lot more flavour.

The pub is found in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE1 1FP.

Take a permanently moored old Dutch barge on the River Nene, kit it out with a below deck bar run and stocked by one of the top breweries in the UK, add a touch of live music, regular events and festivals and finish it off with a fine-quality oriental restaurant on the top deck. Inspired - and quite probably the best thing about Peterborough. 12 cask ales always on (more during festivals).

We have visited this pub 17 times, seen 74 different beers and tried 32 of them.
