Not too busy when we arrived but soon started to fill up, which is nice to see given this pub is a bit of the beaten-track.

Fairly busy on a dank post Boxing Day lunchtime. This was the pub we all wanted to come to in the days of the Egerton Quiz League. Great pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Woodforde's - Wherry3.80ExcellentI often pass over this, but in fact it is damn good-a fine East Anglian bitter with biscuity malt and a lasting hop.

Early afternoon. Fancied a trip out and it's a nice drive to the Bowl. Handful in around the bar enjoying the large real fire that was roaring away.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood3.70AcceptablePerfectly good condition but it tasted quite watery. Might have been because it was a touch too cold.

Wanted a trip out so we came here for a swift half. Nice relaxed pub with a handful of locals in.

After trying to find a spot for a picnic with a view and no wind we gave up and went to the Bowl. I've never been here before and was interested to see what it was like. It was a friendly pub with quite a few people in. The interior has an open plan layout with a central fireplace. The garden is fairly enclosed and large. I liked it.

18 Jul 2010 (Alenomore)
Late Sunday afternoon, our first visit, and with our dedicated driver making our life easy, I sampled 6 ales, all in top condition, priced as you would expect in the country. Quite a few ales had sold out by now (5pm), but still a big crowd, plenty outside, good music, good weather and a friendly landlady. She's been here for 18 years and hopes to be around to celebrate the pubs 500th anniversary in 2012? A good couple of hours spent here. Recommended.
