Advertised tonight as a Sierra Nevada Brewery Tap Takeover; there are eight of that brewery’s beers on the keg taps. They are however all (I assume) ‘old school’ kegs, with added carbonation, plus they are a little bit pricey, so I resist the temptation to go down the bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Kandel6.30ExcellentA dark Porter with a pinkish tinge and a strong morello cherry flavour and underlying fruitcake.
Sierra Nevada - Flipside Red IPA6.20ExcellentOn keg dispense. Reddish-brown in colour. Some caramel. Good hops.
Sierra Nevada - Celebration6.80ExcellentOn keg dispense. Amber-coloured. 2014 edition of the brewery’s ‘Fresh Hop’ beer.. A Classic West Coast IPA – not obviously ‘fresh’ though.
Sierra Nevada - Snow Wit5.70ExcellentOn keg dispense. A very nice, orange/yellow, cloudy wit bier in the Belgian style. Plus lots of added hops.
Tap East - Trial - JP's Bitter3.80AcceptableA trial brew for a new regular Session Bitter. Unfortunately it is a bit turbid and yeasty and difficult to assess its true flavours.

I had naively thought I might do a spot of mid-evening shopping at Westfield, but the huge crowds and general air of panic meant the only place I spent any cash was in here.

Here at 7pm for the first call on a local CAMRA Pub Crawl of Stratford. It has not been well-advertised and only five of us gather – and I make clear that I am only around for the first stop anyway.

I had planned to watch an FA Youth Cup match at Brisbane Road, but the tubes were misbehaving and I was only in Stratford by kick-off time – so, a spot of shopping, then in here for a couple. Quiet until 9pm, when it started to get busy.
