Advertised tonight as a Sierra Nevada Brewery Tap Takeover; there are eight of that brewery’s beers on the keg taps. They are however all (I assume) ‘old school’ kegs, with added carbonation, plus they are a little bit pricey, so I resist the temptation to go down the bar.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Kandel | 6.30 | | A dark Porter with a pinkish tinge and a strong morello cherry flavour and underlying fruitcake. |
Sierra Nevada - Flipside Red IPA | 6.20 | | On keg dispense. Reddish-brown in colour. Some caramel. Good hops. |
Sierra Nevada - Celebration | 6.80 | | On keg dispense. Amber-coloured. 2014 edition of the brewery’s ‘Fresh Hop’ beer.. A Classic West Coast IPA – not obviously ‘fresh’ though. |
Sierra Nevada - Snow Wit | 5.70 | | On keg dispense. A very nice, orange/yellow, cloudy wit bier in the Belgian style. Plus lots of added hops. |
Tap East - Trial - JP's Bitter | 3.80 | | A trial brew for a new regular Session Bitter. Unfortunately it is a bit turbid and yeasty and difficult to assess its true flavours. |
Tap East - East End Mild | 3.50 | Not Tried
Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried
Siren Craft - Sound Wave | 5.60 | Not Tried
Hopcraft (experimental side of Pixie Spring) - Citraic | 5.20 | Not Tried
05 Dec 2014 (Stephen Harris)
I had naively thought I might do a spot of mid-evening shopping at Westfield, but the huge crowds and general air of panic meant the only place I spent any cash was in here.

Shiny - Bank Vault | 4.30 | | Golden, dry and fiercely-hopped. Very bitter. |

Green Jack - Red Herring | 5.00 | Not Tried

I don’t seem to have recorded all my recent visits here – never mind, it was good to meet up with some friends here in the evening on return from Ireland via Southend Airport.
Tap East - IPA (West Coast) | 7.00 | | Amber coloured and cloudy. Fabulous, strong, US-hopped IPA. I’m in a generous mood, so five stars. |
