Mid-evening visit. The pub hosted its second ‘Open Brewhouse’ festival over the Bank Holiday weekend, and I’m pleased to see that six of the special and collaboration beers are still available.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Tap East - Pomegranate Porter4.70ExcellentI really enjoyed this dark, fruity beer. The roasted barley flavours and the pomegranate seemed to go well together.
Tap East - Belgian Pale Ale (in collaboration with Canterbury Brewers)6.00ExcellentA collaboration beer with Canterbury Brewers. Golden and a tad hazy. Authentically Belgian flavours with lots of spicy yeast tastes.
Tap East - Ubique Red IPA (in collaboration with Tap East Brewsters)6.30ExcellentAn excellent Red IPA with sweetish sticky malt and bitter hops.
Tap East - Weisse (in collaboration with Redemption)6.50GoodA collaboration beer with Redemption Brewery. A hazy golden colour. Nice wheat beer in the German style.

I’ve been splashing the cash in M&S and Waitrose and, naturally, ended up in here. There is a slightly odd letter in the current London Drinker magazine moaning about the prices in here. At £3:30 for the home-brew, and £3:60 for real ale guests, I think it compares quite favourably with pubs nearby. Tonight’s Imperial Stout has a special price tag attached mind you, and this was made clear prior to purchase.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Galaxia (superseded by 4.5% version)5.20ExceptionalGreat hops, top brewery, superb condition. That’s a five star beer.
Elgood's - Black Eagle Imperial Stout8.70ExcellentBlack, strong and delicious.
Tap East - Saxon Invasion Sour Ale4.60ExcellentI haven’t drunk this beer since the day it was launched. But I keep reading good reviews (including thebrewingman’s from yesterday) so I thought I should give it another go. Much better than I remembered it. More rounded. Lip-puckeringly sour and refreshing.
