Here for the launch of Dark Star and Thornbridge Thornstar. Usual bunch of beer geeks
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Thornstar4.70ExceptionalIts a lot like the Raven but has the drinkability of Dark Star too. Its a good hoppy dark beer.

My first visit here and very impressed. Relaxed atmosphere on a Saturday lunchtime.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Lumford3.90ExcellentVery pale beer brewed with new world hops as the pumpclip states. Fairly sweet and fruity with citrus flavours evident and a pleasant faintly buttery malty base. My score 16/20.
Mallinsons - Dales Beauty4.50GoodPale and quite bitter with a dryish hop flavour. A dry, hoppy finish. My score 15/20.
Mighty Oak - Mare's T'Ales5.00GoodStrong golden bitter with dry bitter hop flavours balanced by some maltiness. Dry, hoppy finish. My score 15/20.

What a great pub. For some reason I thought this was going to be a poky dark place but it's a light, modern, relaxed, mellow drinking venue.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Mallinsons - Emley Moor3.40GoodI would have given this a better score if it hadn't needed just a bit more venting. Black mild. Slightly tangy, hint of sourness, mildy roasted, low hoping. Good.

Meet the Marble brewer night. Fantastic evening here, packed at the bar, showing how popular this place is now, plus 12 Marble beers on, some of which ran out during the evening, the turnover was that high. Here with a mix of beer luminaries from around the South East.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marble - Summer Marble4.50ExceptionalPale gold, thin white head. Lovely hop aroma. It’s amazing almost perfect. Lovely hop just like lmeon and with a touch of lime. Lovely mouth feel. Good balanced hop finish. Superb.
Marble - Dobber5.90ExceptionalThe best IPA in the UK? Quite possibly. Even just slightly better than Jaipur? It's a very tight ocntest.
Marble - 17323.90GoodGrassy hoppy beer

Sunday lunchtime and the first one in. Sat with the newspaper and a tremendous line up of beer. The 2 new handpumps are already in preparing for BrewDog launch on Thursday 20th May. Beer condition here is really outstanding, especially the Thornbridge beers. I also had a half of the Andechs Hell lager which was excellent.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Raven6.60ExceptionalI thought this was exceptional. Lovely condition, lovely roasted malt, lovely hop. Just fantastic. I had 2 pints and they disappeared very quickly.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.40ExcellentNot quite as good as the Hophead at the Butcher's Arms, but very close. Classic great hoppy session beer.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur5.90GoodA little bit more syrupy and a little less hoppy than I remember. I ended up mixing this with the Dark Star Hophead, which ended up a very good blend.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Brother Rabbit4.00GoodSlight diacetyl on aroma, good biscuit session bitter in mouth. Some dryness on end. Very drinkable session bitter.

Busy bustling atmosphere. Lucky to get a table although many people were just in there for a post work pint..
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.40ExcellentSeems like Darkstar have got this recipe back to the old recipe again..
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur5.90ExcellentAs usual, ever reliable pint of Jaipur. I do love this stuff! Not the best form I've had it, ever so slightly dusty taste.
Parkway (formerly Glastonbury Ales) - Black As Yer 'at Mild4.30ExcellentMmmmm Creamy, smooth, licorice, brown, sweet yet lasting malt taste, dry. Thin head. Overall one of my favorites of the night
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Raven6.60ExcellentYummy
Crouch Vale - Best Bitter4.00GoodTotally un-inspiring pint. First time try for me. Very average best bitter.. Thin bead.. Overall Boring
Parkway (formerly Glastonbury Ales) - FMB5.00Good
Dark Star - Saison4.50Good
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Brother Rabbit4.00GoodNot the most inspiring of Thornbridge beers. But still very pleasant, citrus, lemon / orange, sweet, mild bitter finish. Good first pint!

I was in the city for a Lynyrd Skynyrd gig so fancied checking out a few pubs first. Haven't been here before and I'd heard good things, I was worried it would be a restaurant with a small bar area but in fact it's just a modern pub that sells food really. Really good place with a great selection of beer on cask, keg and in bottles. Other than the high prices this place is pretty faultless.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Ashford4.20ExcellentI really, really liked this, a borderline 5 star beer in my opinion. Malty brown bitter with a chocolatey flavour to it. Incredibly moreish.
1648 - Brew Master3.90AcceptableNot a bad beer, fruity with a little toffee and hop. Little unimaginative but perfectly drinkable.
