Having blown most of my cash on lunch elsewhere, I needed a cheap place to recuperate from rambling exertions before facing the train back to London. Quiet in here on Sunday afternoon after the lunch rush.
Wantsum - 1381 | 3.80 | | Golden-coloured beer with a citrus and bitter hop character. |
Hop Union (formerly Great Western (GWB)) - Maiden Voyage | 4.00 | | A rather disappointing, copper-coloured, fruity and malty bitter. |

Not the best Wetherspoons Pub by any means. However, it is local and I have a fistful of vouchers offering all sorts of enticements!
Banks's - Ringwood Fortyniner | 4.90 | | A strong hop presence but with a slight citric fruity flavour. |
31 Oct 2006 (Andrew)
Was visiting Faversham to go to the cinema and came in for something to eat. They had 8 or 9 beers with clips on and all but 3 had a sticker on saying, 'Coming Soon'. Not soon enough for me to have any though so thanks for that stupid message. Also, turn the heating up.
JW Lees (see also Lees) - Ruddy Glow | 4.50 | | Brown beer with a lasting bubbly head. Strong orange-peel flavours well ballanced with a toasted treacle bite. Toasted orange peel bitter finsh |
Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
26 Aug 2006 (Ian)
Saturday, mid morning and there was a mix of breakfasters adn early drinkers. Architecturally one of my favourite Wetherspoons conversions
Elgood's - GSB (Greyhound Strong Bitter) | 5.20 | | Chestnut with thin beige head. Choc aroma and flavours, sweetish dry malts, in fact a very malty flavour. Rich fruit flavours, some dryness on end. Not a massive hop presence, some spice on end. Dry choc malt is excellent. |
